Thanks @RobWilmot !
And @david_2017 could you please edit the thread title with correct developer name?
Thanks for the instructional video @RobWilmot - it’s comprehensive and one of the best I’ve seen.
I want to like and purchase your app - I really do - I really like the idea of it and I would like to support the creative process.
My only problem is that I did have problems with the 2xB303 understanding the workflow and struggling to turn the knobs also without wishing to be disparaging in the slightest I am hoping that the video (along with the hello there one) was not showing off the new apps capabilities to it’s fullest. I was hoping for something more musical with a bit of a beat going - these two factors are preventing me from pushing the purchase button.
From the description I was hoping for something along the lines of a techno glitchy type beat with maybe a few vocal samples thrown in - but so far I have not heard much along these lines.
I suspect there are others in the same boat. It’s only a suggestion and my take on things, but I am thinking that if you could knock up another video with a bit of a glitchy groove going (you mentioned taking inspiration from Volca and Electribes) then your sales figures would see a significant boost.
so if the dev make a new vid with your music taste the sales will go up? interesting
Bought. I like it. Great work @RobWilmot
I’d be way more interested if it was portrait mode on iPhone, elastic beats is wicked for this aspect of its interface...
I agree with you - this could be interesting in a therapeutic sense. Tell me, have you heard the term selective abstraction?
Sorry, man.... stupid german autocorrection
Title changed
Walkthrough Part 2 is up now:
This focuses on step editing and some of the sequence settings like entering steps, accents, and how to make poly rhythms.
There are more parts to come. I am intentionally starting with the very basics, keeping it clinical and dry and so avoiding any specific music genres that some might not appreciate.
I am making these guides in parts so I can release them sooner.
Thanks
Rob
@noob & @RobWilmot , I think perhaps I should have been clearer in what and why I was asking for.
Rob, it says in your description that this app was inspired by the Electribe and Volca range which caught my interest. These instruments sold in their thousands and were of course well known for use in the production of a wide range of electronic music crossing multiple genres.
I would really like to hear some examples of what the app is capable in relation to any of these forms of electronic music.
My sense is that were you to do this then this would heighten and further engage the interest of the electribe and Volca using fraternity - of which there are many - which would hopefully further encourage them to make a purchase.
I’m speaking for myself here - I don’t want to know how it works, I want to know what it is capable of and what it can sound like (in relation to the electribe and Volca type scenarios). I find the sounds in the current videos a bit irritating to be honest.
Having said that instructional videos should be the priority at the moment for those who have already committed to purchasing.
No worries. Sorry you think they are irritating. These videos are exactly for the people who want to know how it works.
That’s fine. I’m getting the sense that some may feel that I’ve overstepped a mark - but I’m not entirely sure this is justified.
I hope you are getting the drift of what I was asking - a yes or no would be fine.
I am not trying to be offensive - the examples in the videos did not sound to me like part of a song . I believed they were intended for illustration of functionality only - if I am wrong then I am happy to accept that.
Are you intending to do a video along the lines of Volca/Electribe inspiration or not? I have asked and you have given a reply but you have not given an answer - I’m quite unclear about the whole scenario. If you think I’m being out of order that’s fine for you to say. I’m happy either way - I appreciate the communication on the forum as a dev and I would not wish to put you or anyone else off this.
I am and have been exited about your app given the description, but once again I had difficulties with the 2XB303 which also sounded good in the description - so I have some slight reservations. Since you were posting videos I was just hoping to hear the the app being put through it’s paces a bit if that was possible... that was really all I was asking.
@robosardine This one is more of a taste of the possibilities.
(I think is prerelease with some differences in features, but worth a look, @RobWilmot? If you’d rather I can take this back down off the thread.)
Another, from a user
@RobWilmot you have done an excellent job with the videos. All is explained clearly. Thanks.
If possible can you do a video for the Slice function, does it work like Slice to pads. Basically one sample can be spread across the keyboard and each key or track pad can be sample edited?
@RobWilmot also Total amount of patterns and total number of bars per pattern and do the tracks have pad mutes& solos. Look forward to Bitcrush/Decimate if you can add @robosardine Chill out.
Thanks stormbeats for asking.
The Slice works by dividing up the sample into however many steps you have set for the sequence and creates Start position parameters on those steps. It doesn’t do any beat analysis, just exact slices so a loose rhythm may not work as well. You can always go to a specific step and fine tune any Start positions with Set enabled. You might need to reduce length down after on long samples as the volume decay still looks at the total length. That’s just something to tweak after. Then you can shuffle, copy / paste or remove the steps with the sample Starts recycling your beats or vocals etc.
The keyboard is used to enter pitches by notes or selecting notes used in Random.
In the Mixer section where levels, pan and bass cut/boost are, there’s also Mute track buttons.
No solo, but I could consider adding that. Some sort of bitcrush is on my todo list.
I have more walkthrough parts still need editing that explain a lot of this and more. I’ll get back onto this tomorrow.
Thanks
Rob
@Littlewoodg That video posting is fine, it was a pre release video but it works more or less the same as that still. Thanks for posting. I’ll be making more of those after the initial walkthrough videos.
Cheers
Rob
Thanks for that @Littlewoodg
@stormbeats good idea. That banjo lick is still going round in my head. I shall vacate to another room in search of repose.
Good luck with the app @RobWilmot, I hope it takes off. I’ll certainly be checking it out again a bit later.
Cheers
@robosardine cool
@RobWilmot ok cheers
7XWave Walkthrough Part 3 done.
Loopy stuff covered here
Cheers
Rob
Thanks for the vids Mister Rob...
No problem. Here’s another. Part 4
Now we have passed the basics, we can now look at note input and generation of melodic patterns with customized sets of notes.
Thanks @RobWilmot
Will try later. I have learned a lot watching these 4 videos✌️
@RobWilmot cheers Rob.
My pleasure.
Rob
Hello. I have just sent an update over to Apple with some bug fixes.
One was an issue loading from Audiobus cold and could actually crash
Issues where copy/paste steps pop-up wasn’t appearing on some devices, you can now upswipe for the pop-up too.
Also when clearing a pasted step, all the pasted steps would disappear. Now fixed.
Oh I added two extra distortion modes. A kind of bit crush and lo fi effect.
I’ll post a video up of that later.
Also internal audio system had some bugs so that might have caused some noise issues on some phones at 48khz.
Cheers
Rob
@RobWilmot nice one for update and lofi/bitcrush
Here. A really quick demo
