WINNERS ANNOUNCED - Detailed Tutorial on Fundamental by Sonic LAB (with Hainbach)

edited September 2020 in General App Discussion

Vid is up folks! Click through to watch on YouTube, thanks for your support.

Detailed Tutorial on Fundamental by Hainbach & Sonic Lab - 4 copies to give away

Fundamental takes the sound of Hainbach’s old analogue Rhode & Schwartz sine generator, multiplies it by 8 and adds a huge number of Stochastic modulation options for gain, frequency, panning and harmonic ratio. It is a great playground for anyone interested in old analogue gear, experimental and ambient music, but also potentially a rich source of sampling material for those with a more sample-based workflow. This video is a very detailed tutorial of everything except the MPE usage, which will probably come soon in a Pt 2 video. If you have bought this app but don’t have the time or inclination to read the manual, this video will give you a full guide. If you are not sure whether or not to buy, this will also be a useful guide. Everything I discuss is relevant to the desktop version too, this is not just for iOS users. There are a few bugs in iOS at the time of release, and some UI issues, but the developer is working fast to fix them and the first update will be out very soon.

  • Why is this only on youtube? A stupid restriction of google?!

  • edited August 2020

This was discussed before @david_2017 - It has to do with view count and getting the right amount of recognition for doing such tutorial works. Don’t know if this are the right words but as i know you speak my language....

(I hope i have not mixed you up regarding the language)

  • @MrBlaschke ah ok. Das ist verständlich. Traurig, aber dass diese embedded view nicht gezählt werden. Könnten ja separat analysiert werden und alles... naja ich bin nicht Google und die fragen mich auch nicht. Danke 👊🏼

  • Does it count as a support when it's forced? I'll show myself out...

  • awesome! about 30 minutes in... def in-depth really understandings now what this app is about

  • Thanks Gav - in spite of the amount of time I've spent with this app (ask my wife..!) I still learned a few things...👍

3 days of morning to night experimentation with this app and dialogue with the dev etc. All completely unpaid. I don't think it is much to ask that people click through to youtube.

No hard feelings I found the link ;)
I dont would even have the time like this. One day it will be paid, maybe :)

  • Yes, eventually, but very very little for the work involved.

  • Which is fine, this is my passion, but I think it is very little to expect that people watch the videos in the place which will be best for the channel - YouTube itself.

Are you seriously objecting to one extra tap to watch the video?

@Gavinski’s tutorials are excellent. A lot of time goes into making these. An extra tap, hardly seems onerous...certainly not something to complain about.

I support your channel just because I like your tutorials. When I am not interested in the app I just give you a like without comment, but if it helps you I can comment on every video you make

  • Thanks guys. I appreciate it @enkaytee @espiegel123

Why do people object to having to click through rather than watch in the forum. If it was a regular Web page, it would click out to that. You don't like ads? Well, sorry about that, but ads are the way that bigger YouTube creators get paid for their work, so it is fair.

I do understand the motive and appreciate the effort that goes into making these.
When you asked I did follow your advice and watched all your tutorials on YouTube. This is no longer an ask, but a condition. Fine, your house your rules. Just don't see the point... if the point being seen by as many as possible.

It's not about an extra tap, but I'm sure you know that.

  • Thanks, I appreciate your support and I understand you, to some extent. I'm glad you're trying to see it from my side too. @0tolerance4silence

  • Now I need a break. 3 days of nonstop work on this app and vid

Good on you Gav, but only a couple of days, mind - then we expect you back, fighting fit and full of vim and vigour... :)

  • Thanks man. A lot of it was the constant back and forth with sinan about the various issues, this was very time consuming. But there is an update coming that will improve a lot of the issues, including hopefully something that will help avoid accidental triggering of the trig button and that output slider on the left

Good news - thanks for working with Sinan to pass on the issues - I'm having SO much fun with Fundamental it can't be legal... ;)

  • @Gavinski looking forward to this one after work now that I’ve got it working nicely in AUM... started mapping notes from Atom to the gains which is a good start to sequencing in some way, thinking that getting envolver or something like it to get beats to activate or ride the fader will be interesting too...

  • What exactly is the issue with view counts? Trying to google it, one gets the impression that embedded browser videos actually do count. Autoplayed videos don´t get counted, which is fair.

  • I read that also later @bleep so I might have been wrong about that, but when I started asking ppl to do that my view counts on youtube went up immediately. But it's also things like being more likely to comment and like a video. That's not possible when watching in a browser.

Not to mention that when your channel is finally monetized, it will make a difference if people are just watching from browsers with ad block. I understand that people don't like ads. But they have to understand that, unless you are paying for premium, it is fair that the creator gets their tiny bit of revenue from these. As I mentioned in another thread, if people here were trying to find ways to pay devs less, people wouldn't think too highly of it. I would love to eventually be doing this full time - like Hainbach or Doug are, for example - and it would be only fair to be able to make a living from it. I'm not independently wealthy, I need a source of income.

At the end of the day my point is that I put a truly incredible amount of work into this channel. It is extremely hard to build a channel on youtube. It is best for the creators that people watch and engage on youtube. If ppl are too resentful to click through, that's their choice but I don't understand it and I don't condone it.

Actually, I am not. You provided precious little information. If you don’t want to watch the videos, don’t watch ‘em. Not sure why you are complaining about the creator of the video wanting people to watch on YouTube so that he gets credit for the views.

  • That video was really informative and interesting! Thansk man for your great reviews and tutorials!❤️❤️❤️🙏👍🏼☝️

  • Thanks, @Gavinski. Those arguments sound fair, no need to speculate about the whims of youtube counting algorithms.
