@audiblevideo ELOyd might just make it as a preset name in a future sound bank! Nice one!

Idk what it is about ELO, but I find their sound and style irresistably and instantly uplifting and positive, actually genuinely cleansing, in fact. It just begs to be cranked up as far as the speakers can handle. You just cannot listen to ELO without breaking into a smile, no matter how low your mood at first. Obviously there is the big synth element to it, but for me it’s also whatever wizardry they did to the drum kit to make it sound so huge and wide! It’s unique and unmistakable, that ELO drum sound. Idk, obviously reverb, but maybe some multitracking and stereo widening fx? The snares and toms always sound gigantic like a whole army of drummers playing. It’s the recording and engineering techniques that intrigue me about ELO.

Never saw ELO, but my ex was involved with ELO pt2 (basically ELO without Jeff Lynne, and a few new guys), so saw a lot of their gigs. Best one was an outdoor festival in the late 90’s - backed by a full orchestra conducted by Louis Clark (original arranger) and choir. Massive, massive sound.

Wow that’s amazing! It’s a pity Jeff Lynne moved on, but the remaining line ups still produced that wonderful ELO sound perfectly.

  • @Spidericemidas really enjoyed reading the history. I’d be interested in contributing to an ELO cover project made up of forum members.

Yeah, wasn’t quite the same without his voice, good producer too, but actually Kelly Groucot (bass) sang on the records quite a bit - in particular the falsetto bit at the beginning of Rockaria:

Wonderful. Right that does it. Next week’s CD collection in the glove box for the drives to and from work is going to be Out Of The Blue, A New World Record and Time.

When I saw them at the local venue when Kelly had replaced Jeff on vocals, Kelly played the walking bassline section of Mr Blue Sky whilst singing along at the same time. That takes some doing!

  • @Spidericemidas - just reading this thread now and it’s such a nice story.

I loved your Lagrange patches and also just tonight been playing your kaspar patches which are also fantastic, started staring them but ended loving them all haha.

I would gladly sign up for a Patreon account if you had one or buy you a coffee if I could :).

What’s the closest synth you have found to the MS-10 on iOS?

Korg provide the iMS-20 on iOS, a replica of the MS-20, the MS-10’s bigger and better Brother with two OSC. So that’s the closest you can ever get to having an MS-10 on iOS! Even better than having an MS-10 on iOS. The standalone MS-20 app also appears as “Memphis” in Korg Gadget where you can run multiple instances. So the MS series is pretty well covered on iOS.

I decided to boot Kaspar up again this week and aim for making another bank for it. So much could be done with it still!

No plans for a Patreon account, but I am a Coffee addict...comes with the synth programming territory!

  • Just adding the old Lagrange presets here as I think they were missing. Hopefully link still works. Demo vid from Doug too with link to the presets.

  • Just adding the links here for the latest Kaspar and Nave presets to continue compiling the collection in one place as was suggested by a number of forum members.

    The first Mitosynth bank.

Because of your advice, amazing presets and enthusiasm I lost months of my life learning mitosynth. Still my favorite synth after al those years. I'm still hoping for an AU version one day.
    Great work.

Hey! I’m glad you felt so compelled to dive in. Your bank of 101 Mito presets was excellent and a wonderful gift to Mito and its fans.

Same here. There’s always an instance of Mito in my AUM ambient jams. Couldn’t do without it. Mito is the reason I’m still keeping the iPad on iOS13. From 14 onwards it loses certain functionality. Won’t show up in CB3 at all. I’ve nudged Canis at Wooji on this a number of times but it’s reached the point where he can no longer keep Mito updated. Certainly not AUv3 either. It’s architecture is simply too old to convert easily. Staying on 13 means I miss out on things like Mela2 and whatever else is coming down the pipeline on the latest OS. But it’s a price I’m more than willing to pay to keep Mito in use as it is. It’s just too good to lose. Essential to me.

    I hope one day there’ll be a Mito 2 AUv3!
