Lost Gangsta (having a blast with Spidericemidas’ Lagrange presets!)
A hip hop style beat with 4 instances of Lagrange utilizing the new batch of presets from @Spidericemidas. The two arp instances sequenced by Fugue Machine, with Atom on the other two. Drambo on drums and a couple other synth parts, and a Thumbjam Cello track also sequenced by Atom. Effects by FAC Alteza reverb and Kosmonaut delay. I turned my hat sideways for this one!

Brilliant! Love this moody hip hop style. I think it’s amazing what you guys @Intrepolicious @echoopera @LinearLineman @McD @reasOne are doing with my presets. It’s job satisfaction for me when my sounds get turned into such cool musical creations. 👏👏
Nice @Intrepolicious , some interesting moodiness developing in there 👍
Thank you! Love those presets, especially the arp section!
Thanks for giving it a spin!
this is awesome man! are you on instagram,? would def follow
Thanks! No, no Instagram.. yet! Just my YT channel, and sometimes upload stuff to SoundCloud.
Another nice one @Intrepolicious.
Brilliant stuff man! Love the vibe and flow of the piece. Gives me those dark synth vibes in the basement of the quiet room at an all night rave...yeah...the come down sessions to bring us all back to the world of the day!
Thank you Thank you!
Thanks a bunch! I’m having a ton of fun putting these AUM jams together.
I’m obviously still using Drambo at its most basic level, learning more and more as I go. Like using P-locks and editing individual steps. I’ve learned a lot from you and your videos (and of course Ben’s videos!), so I’m very grateful to be among such talented people!
Serious Hip Hop.
Sounds great. Nice structure with the call and response.
ha the good ol rave days... @echoopera busted out his glowsticks for this one
🤣
I never know what genre I’m making music in lol
Thank you!
I’m happy it at least brought back some memories for some of you!
Very nice track, I like it when the those moody cellos come in
Thank you! Glad you like the cello sound.
What I wouldn't give for that Cello (and most Thumbjam instruments) in an AUv3
package. There are signs of life from @sonosaurus so maybe we'll all get a surprise.
Nice arrangement and use of many of my favorite tools.
Thanks, and I concur, though a single instance of TJ has been well behaved in AUM for me mostly, I’d love an AUv3.
A friend of mine said I was “channeling my inner Chester Bennington” on this track. Wow, now that I listen to it again, I cannot un-hear it!
Great vibe, love the fugue machine integration!
Thank you! Fugue Machine is fascinating in its own right. I wish I could figure out how to sync each playhead independently.
@Intrepolicious Does accept program change in midi settings help?
Or maybe @Alexandernaut would know?
Thanks @id_23, happy to help.
And hey, @Intrepolicious, would you mind describing what you mean by “sync each playhead independently” in more detail?
Do you mean you'd like start playheads perfectly on time? If so, it may not be obvious, but the play button changes are quantized to 1/8th notes and only take effect when you remove your finger. So if you put your finger down on the play button and then release it just before you'd like it to start, it should start perfectly on time. This is the case for almost all parameters. And is also the case for the global play button for the AUv3 plugin.
First, thank you so much for stopping in to help @Alexandernaut! I think I can speak for everyone in saying we all LOVE Fugue Machine! It is by far one of my all time favorite midi sequencers, and no matter how much we paid for the app, it is a musical gift that you have given us all!
Now, to the questions. Actually, now that you mention it being quantized to 1/8th notes, (and I’m sure I could have found this by RTFM) and “RELEASING” the finger, I think I get it now.
I think what I was expecting, (or wanting) was quantization to the whole bar, or set of bars. That way, one could play the first head for however many bars and tap the play button on the next head anywhere in the middle of the bar to engage it at the beginning of the next bar. (Like that other sequencer that begins with an A does).
I’m pretty sure my problem was the way I was looking at those play heads now that I think about it. I always saw them as “toggle” type buttons rather than “momentary” press/hold/release buttons.
So the way I understand it now, is in order to sync another play head the way it is now (momentary), you have to be right there on the 1/8th note with Fugue Machine open on screen, with your finger on the play button, and release right before the next 1/8th note? Is that right?
Alternatively, I think the advantage of having a “toggle” play button, and quantization to the bar, would be that it would give us time to do and sync other things, like a drum sequence, a groovebox, bass line, anything.
In my vision, I have Fugue Machine open and running the first play head, say for two bars, and I want the second play head to start right at the beginning of the 3rd bar; so I quickly TAP the play button on the second play head anywhere in the middle of the second bar, and now I can close FM for now because I know it’s “SET” to start playing the second head at the beginning of the 3rd bar. Now I have time to go engage other things that I also want to start on bar 3, like a Drambo Pattern for example, which also can quantize to the bar.
In other words, it’s hard to do anything else while you’re stuck in an app with your finger holding a button.
But now that you’ve explained it, I think I understand how it’s part of FM’s performance and playability appeal. Maybe now I’ll be able to look at it in a whole new way!
Btw, this is all by only ever using the AU version in AUM. I don’t think I’ve ever used the standalone app.
Thanks again!
This is great! Smooth, rhythmic and sensitive. Question: your DSP stays really low. How can you tell which apps to use to keep it low? Or is it a matter of trial and error?
Thanks! Honestly, I never look at that unless there’s a problem, so trial and error. It also depends on the actual device itself I’m sure. This was composed on a 2018 iPad Pro 11”.
Probably a combination of app and device. I have a 2020 iPad Pro and was doing something on AUM with just one synth and a couple of effects and the DSP was really high. Maybe I had something going on in the background, not sure. Complete noob here 😏 Anyway, whatever, great sound you got going there 👍🏼 And, ofcourse I’m now going to have to purchase LaGrange 🤓
LaGrange is awesome. Addstation is another one I just bought that’s been blowing my mind.
Every time I say to myself “ok, no more apps!” Out comes another one that’s a must have!
