Ah tnx, will try that. Inversion and clocking is so easy in modular. I always get frustrated trying to sequence in midi.

Don’t know what modules you’d use but if they’re in miRack couldn’t you pipe the midi in, convert it to cv, work your magic, back to midi and send it back out and on its way?

I was talking about my actual Eurorack. I have mirack but have yet to learn it. I would hope that miRack could do what you say, but I fear that most apps take their tempo from the host or ableton link.

  • Another "piano motifs" midi import into StaffPad. This time there are 2 contrasting sections
slayed out in an A-B-A structure.

To beef it up I added the Funk Drummer to the mix.

The "wrong notes" are intentional and I would probably keep making improvements if this was going out on someone's video but as a workflow experiment I'm OK with the effort.
I learned more about pizzicato for the strings and how to automate volumes in StaffPad and got more practice manipulating phrases and creating instrumentation set ups.

You guys have given me an interesting idea to explore. Thanks!

I won't talk about it here though because i don't want to derail this thread. I may ask questions on the miRack thread first.

In a galaxy far, far away... a guy made this on his iPad with an extra $1,000 in optional software libraries
    because he's a control freak:

A mock-up of the Star Wars Theme concert arrangement. This was created in StaffPad utilizing the following libraries: Berlin Woodwinds and Spitfire Woodwinds, Berlin Brass and CineBrass, Berlin Percussion and CinePerc, CineHarp, CinePiano, Berlin and Spitfire Strings.

His main take-away was "John Williams like a lot of notes." Sure. He can hire a team of arrangers after
fleshing out the main themes. It's a kind of musical plagiarism that mines the classical literature for ideas
and re-implements them to fit a video narrative. Star Wars is primarily re-hashed Holst.

The Planets, Op. 32, is a seven-movement orchestral suite by the English composer Gustav Holst, written between 1914 and 1916. Each movement of the suite is named after a planet of the solar system and its corresponding astrological character as defined by Holst.

NOTE: Steve Barden is a Pro who writes Music for Film, TV, Trailers, and Games. You are never going to be able to do this. (This often works for young kids... tell them they can't do something and they will thank you publicly when they pick up their Oscar, Grammy ,Tony or Emmy. But never for a VMA oddly enough. I'm lookin' at you Finneas.).

  • @McD whoa definitely shows how powerful those libraries are.

My snarky response is, not control freak enough - French horns too low and tempo is a bit too fast :p

Ah man this is not going to be good for the wallet...

Forget the libraries. He could have put this out using the standard free instruments but he's a pro.
It's the product itself that is simply amazing in it's ability to render. It's not realtime and that makes all the difference. When you enter 1 bar if turns it to audio in the background and turns the bar a color if there's something it can't render logically. It's what Cubasis track freezing SHOULD do but it's too buggy. If Track Freezing actually worked I'd be it's biggest fan but still waiting for AUv3's to make good tracks every time.

The @LinearLineman has found the closest process but every time I try I get no where.

DEVELOPERS: Make me a batch AUv3 rendering app that merges MIDI timing and AUv3 apps to produce
great mixed audio files. BATCH, bitch.

Winner for the Best Sampled Choirs is the StaffPad "Voxos Epic Virtual Choirs" by CineSamples ($99). Is it real or is it Memorex? You can make them speak Latin syllables and more.

Argh now you’re just trying to get me to spend money.

I didn't buy it... It's just on my list.

  • @McD This sounds outstanding!

You've sparked a little idea in me: Imagine an AudioLayer preset with placeholders for many vowels, consonants and articulations that can be filled day by day by fellow AB forum members.
A gigantic joint recording effort to make an international creatives, gossip and gasoholic orchestra.

The last times I've used AL in Nanostudio 2, it freezed the tracks correctly.

  • Am I the only one here that sees "Composting Software" every time I scan the thread titles and this one comes up? :D

New thread headline. Interesting thought. What's the deal with composting software?
    Did GAS pay off finally?

It would be great to see something that can turn my tracks into something useful.

  • @wim Have you tried collaborating with someone? Others might find your stuff inspiring.

My music or my composting material? Only one of those would be very inspiring. I'm not saying which.

Damn, now I'm reading the compost headline too every time 😅

No shit. I didn't see it. That thread that shows:

    Demoting iPad & Project Catalyst

Always seems like a totally typo and throws me.

The cool thing with these choir sample libraries is - we can type lyrics into the score and make it sing syllables controlled via the lyrics!
