what an utter fool that old dude is...909 is epic ffs
I'll take the TR-626 any day, that's one box that is often forgotten...

(Advantage over 707/727 is that the samples can be tuned)
Totally. 626 is excellent, though I do prefer the 707 snare, which is very Linn-ish (right up my alley).
The 909 snare is when drum machine snares jumped the shark. And the snare is the most important drum instrument as far as nailing the sound.
+1
My comment on this being sampled is based on listening to this snare.
It's not really all that hard to synthesize a 909 snare (and kick, etc. ) without samples. It's the hats and cymbals that are tough and are generally done with samples.
lol....
Most under-rated drum machine?
Yamaha RX5 - no question. I really got to know it and did entire songs on it. It could make sounds I never heard before and was easy to program sounds even while it was running. Add in multiple outputs through an on-board mixer with a slider on every channel, you could really get something going.
@analog_matt Can you confirm regarding samples vs synth? I would assume calling it a synth means it’s a synth and doesn’t use samples, but there’s some speculation.
Same for Bass 808.
Retro Piano specifically states it uses samples. Bass 808 and the 909 specifically state they are synths. So...?
My bad... never seen app description... and now, it's too late...
rx5 is not underrated ( Sisters of Mercy)
Floodland=Rx5
BTW iSpark got YRX5...

Dr Avalanche?
You picked up some iSpark IAPs? How are they?
whohooooo! 909 synth.
but for retro its spot on
yes i got some iap .. all of the kits sound fantastic..dunno what Arturia did but it sounds juicy ..very analog
the rx5 is...eehh..rx5 not a fav tbh
any release dates?
They were teasing a release on 9/09 so I’d assume that’s the case.
With a C??????!!!!!!!!!! How can I take this seriously???
👍
Overrated my ass. 909 is 🔥
Should look nice beside Pure Acid.

I’ve been watching this again whilst waiting for it.
The ultimate and only necessary drum machine was the Boss Dr55
Very bold claim. Sound is very subjective you know.
My first DM! It was on a pedal board hardwired into 1 channel of a stereo graphic EQ with the ability to then go to any or all of several guitar pedals. A creative person could get by very nicely with just that! Of course there wasn’t much choice beyond that but I don’t think that was a bad thing.
bring it on, then
I always thought you looked like this....
I see you only just met.
We met last thursday at Monk's cafe. I had the tuna salad. It was decent.
Ah yes, I remember – I had the lasagna
