Bismark BS-16i and different soundfont versions

Does anyone know if BS-16i is compatible with all of the different versions of soundfonts? There are several versions (1.0, 2.0, 2.1, 2.X, etc.) with the newest being 2.4. I'm not sure all of the differences in the standard, but Version 1.0 is significantly different than later versions.

I first noticed the problem a few years ago when I was using a PC-based DAW with some Soundfont version 1.0 Sonic Implant drum kits that I bought back in the 90s. With many if not all VSTi plugins that I tried, the mix of the drums was "off" with the snare drum and cymbals being way too loud and some of the other drums barely audible. After some snooping I found that the VSTi plugins that I was using were written for newer versions of soundfonts and they were interpeting the velocity information of my v1.0 soundfonts incorrectly.

Now I'm wondering if I'm going to have the same problem using my old soundfonts with BS-16i, or does BS-16i understand that there are different versions and automatically adjust the note velocities as necessary? Near as I can tell there's no way to tell what version of a soundfont you are using, and when you download the free ones the version it was designed for is usually not specified.

Thanks
