  • Summer, but in which hemisphere ? Summer is just coming down under in December

  • Summer 2021

  • If my gut doesn't fail me we'll likely get iPadOS14 before the BM3 update drops...
...as always I hope to be proven wrong but my gut has not failed me that often :D

"...in the coming weeks..." ! so... yyyah!

  • It's real. It's happening.

    Don't panic.

    But I can't promise when.

  • But panic is fun!

I assume you are in beta and can’t comment much . Don’t know if you can share info such as :
is it only bug fixing or new features are coming too ?

Sigh. I would love bug fixing.

  • Yeah, new (old) features mean new bugs... I hope it becomes stable first.

I find it pretty stable. The current version is my first. I think its overall instability is exaggerated. I don't doubt that it is unstable for some. But I know that I'm not alone in finding the current version reasonably stable.

Yes, in terms of crashes it is very stable for me now. There are just significant issues with AU automation data which have been unaddressed for three years now, which is a shame.

That's the thing, reasonable amount of midi jitter I can live with. But you pick a DAW to be in the centre of your production, reasonably stable is just not good enough. I love to be able to forget about the tool... just set it up and use it. Why would I choose something I have to keep one eye on all the time. Sure, you often have to adapt to your tool, but not because you're afraid of it failing any moment.

edit: but all in all, since last update it isn't too bad, it's just not yet good enough compared to other things I can reach for.

I know it is lame semantics but for me it is just a sweet groovebox and a long ways off from DAW territory.

  • Yeah, that's more or less how I use it at the moment. Rarely, only for specific things it's really good at.
To be honest I gave up on it long time ago and not because of the delays, but some fundamental things that either broken or conceptually off (midi)

Midi clock sync in BM3 has never been reliable for me and I gave it many tries over the past ten months. I tried with three different midi clock sources and two different midi interfaces, including adding a clock splitter and in all cases BM3 is some form of mess while all my hardware and Modstep on iPad is rock solid every time.

Maybe there is one tiny check box somewhere throwing the whole thing into goofyville with BM3 but I have yet to find it.

Yes bug fixes are included and some minor changes. Beta’s been pretty stable for me and other so far.

  • In the meantime enjoy this really dope video.

The old adage is "better to be great at one thing than mediocre at lots of things". So true with regards to BM3.
