Ahoy me hearties! That most glorious day o' th' year be upon us! Saturday Sept. 19 be International Talk Like a Pirate Day!

If ye poor land lubbers dunno o' it, 'tis th' day when everyone gets t' natter like a pirate without fear o' bein' locked up in th' loony bin or more likely bein' skewered right through.

Come on, show yer adventurous spirit, buckle up, 'n write like a true salty cur. Nah been t' sea lately? Been gentrified t' natter proper all yer life? Don't worry yersel', th' Online Pirate Translator can teach ye how t' natter like a right decent pirate.

Now buck up 'n get yer sea legs fer a day. Ye won't regret it! Har har!

Or maybe ye'd rather jus' walk th' plank. That or we can oblige ye wit' a good healthy keelhaulin'. Yer choice. Remember, dead men tell no tales.

I almost went to sleep with the fishes the day I learned of the Glorious Day. I was driving home from work and tuned into a talk radio show on talk like a pirate day. I laughed so hard I could barely see to navigate traffic and had to pull off of the freeway before I caused a wreck. Thank god they didn't do the news in pirate. I'm sure I would have run off the road.

  • Thanks for the pirate reminder, @Wim!

Definitely one of my favorite holidays!!!

Be certain to gather the gracious booty as well!

To take advantage of the offer, simply stop by any participating Long John Silver’s location on Saturday, September 19, and when you talk like a pirate, you’ll score a free piece of fish. As an added bonus, fans who dress like a pirate will receive a free two-piece Fish Basket.

Additionally, Long John Silver’s is offering pirates at home an opportunity to score a free digital gift card by posting a picture or video of themselves dressed like a pirate and tagging Long John Silver’s on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter.

Also, today here in the states we celebrate National Cheeseburger Day. Lots of offers there as well!

Good find, and fine for the pirates for one day only. True pirates would sooner swab the bilges than eat more fish on shore leave. Rum now, that's a different story.
