i’ve wanted one since my old roommate moved out with his!
finally was able to trade my model samples for one and can’t wait! i already have a couple patch/sample packs ready to load!
who else has one here and do you have any tip / tricks / jams you wanna share

Strangely I’ve just bought a model samples and was thinking of offloading my circuit.
Pretty sure I’ll keep now though as I’ve just sold my Electribe 2 and Volca Fm to cover the MS purchase.
It is a great unit and I should use it more.
I’ve got tons of jams on my YouTube channel.
None gets more views than this. Not sure why 🤷🏼‍♂️

This is one of my faves too

I think the fact that I didn’t have an up to date computer to create my own sounds for it, stopped me using it. No excuse now because I have one. I will be linking it up with the MS and hopefully the Cycles too in a couple of weeks. They will cover some decent sonic ground together.

i was able to trade my ms out on reddit r/synths4sale if you do end up wanting up trade out the circuit. i always regret the gear i’ve traded out tho, except the op1 lol i’m so glad to be free of that one, that a pain it is 🤣 sold it and bought my ipad pro a couple years ago, great deal.
i think you should hang on to it tho, those are great jams and you seem to have the knowledge and skills to create what you like with it so i think you’ll regret it down the line. for your ms get the samples app and you can send samples right to your ms from your ipad/iphone. it will crash sometimes but don’t give up it’ll eventually transfer that sample 🤣 just likes to give you grief for a bit

Love my circuit. I don’t spend an awful lot of time sound designing on it, have tried the new beta app and it does look good.

One thing I find a nuisance is having to use the PC to load samples (if anyone knows of a way to do this using IOS please let me know!).

There’s loads of sound / sample packs out there.

I use it as my sequencer with IOS apps in AUM and cubasis too. Really neat bit of kit. Have a lot of fun!

i do plan on trying to use it with my ipad both to sequence and to use with aum sessions! i hate loading samples from a computer but i’m getting used to it lol almost every sampler i’ve has recently works that way. volca, ms, electribe sampler, etc 🤣 hopefully some one will make an ios app for transferring at least, that circuty app looks fun , just waiting on the mailman now it’s out for delivery

This channel's tutorials on the Circuit editor was a huge help to me. If you want to dive into those synths then you're going to be using the editor a lot. Check the description of the first vid and there's a link to his, frankly, amazing manual on the editor.

    Its a great box @reasOne
I mostly use it as a midi controller for AUM. Its my favourite sequencer by far. The buttons an buttons are brilliant and make this a beauty to get your muscle memory which as others have said make this an amazing tool. Flicking between sequencing, mixing and effects becomes second nature.

My tip would be record automation of the knobs, all those synth parameters, comb filters, crunch bit thingies, pitch, decay. And the drums, record automation on them aswell. So many happy accidents.

Having only 4 drums might seem like a restriction but remember you can assign any sample to any step, It has a name that but it can get you out of that restriction a bit.

I havent programmed the synth much for lack of a nice ipad editor but it seems the latest beta app will remedy that. You have 2 Novation Nova synths

i love automation, i’ll def dig into that asap, i think this will be a fun box to use with koala sampler too , for making loops and resampling and maybe sending those sounds back to the circuit for live play.
ahh that’s good each step can have it’s own sample! i assume they cut each other off tho if they cross into each other? still that does expand it quite a bit!

just staring out the window waiting on mr mail man 🤣 thanks man hope this also inspires you to pull out your circuit and jam!

Literally all iOS web browsers are using same renderimg engine like Safari (including Chrome) - they are all just different shells, wrappers, with different user features build on upon same HTML core provided by iOS API (WKWebView or older deprecated UIWebView). As soon as WKWebView engine doesnt support WebMIDI, it's highly unlikely that any iOS browser supports it...0

You are right only WebKit is allowed in iOS but web midi browser add midi layer to WebKit.
Unfortunately some other libs may be missing too.
I’ll test it again more in depth in case of ...

@reasOne - top tip..... you can recall sessions in AUM with the session buttons on the circuit - it sends a PC midi message. This way one button to push, and up comes up what you were working on last in AUM. Enjoy 😋

ohhhh! that’ll be very useful for sure!

  • it has arrived!

  • I'm considering grabbing one myself. I have a Monostation and awaiting my Neutron to arrive. My aim is to use iOS as the mixer/FX via audio interface, however I'd love a HW brain/sequencer to jam.
The long term goal is a Force but for now either a Circuit, a Launchpad Pro or a Beatstep Pro. All are great but the Circuit actually has sounds.

I would say Digitakt is amazing brain for small setup... I had circuit, i have keystep and digitakt - and man, that sequencer in digitakt is magic ! Very easy to learn, straigtworward but with huge possibilities, very addictive...

the circuit makes more noise the the others hehe but having a good midi controller is very helpful. there’s a couple on reverb for less than 300$ or you can try to buy one on reddit

  • so i just went to componets and sent the “ali the archetect” pack to the circuit, it seems to have replaced the factory content. totally fine with me, but does that mean only one pack can be on the circuit at a time?

  • @reasOne I recommend using that new beta app to manage the patches, since there's a limit of patches on the Circuit. The app can import sysex backups to individual patches.

if i download a pack from online i can send it to the circuit via ipad??

  • Yeah, using that editor. Import the patches into the app, and then use the app connecting to Circuit via USB to send patches. It's been a few weeks, but pretty sure that app has Files app support too.

  • ahh that’s good each step can have it’s own sample! i assume they cut each other off tho if they cross into each other? still that does expand it quite a bit!

Not sure if they cut each other off, I think they do. Sample memory is a bit limited. I got all creative with my own pack which helped me to learn that you can easily fill it up.

  • is there a way to sync circuit tempo with AUM or NS2? i’ve tried the things i know how to do in AUM using USB from circuit to the cck in ipad but the tempos are not alligned

  • edited September 2020

at least with NS2 no... unfortunately NS doesnt send/receive MIDI clock (no.1 on my wishlist to be honest :-))

was thinking about possible solution - in theory with multi-out soundcard you should be able to use one out for sending short impulses on some channel and send them into something like Arturia Keystep / Beatstep (into ints sync in jack) and use it for generating midi clock for circuit... but it's just theorerical concept...

    will try it evening :-))))

that is deep! haha i do have a beat step and multi out audio interface tho, not sure if that would do it, using a macbook pro, if it works for na2 lmk!

AUM sync should / does work. There are some midi settings you can access on the circuit, but i though by default midi clock is received.

AUM doesn’t remember clock sync setting on restart. So check midi out is enabled and circuit is the destination. Also by habit I always set circuit as a midi controller source in AUM.

Hit play on AUM (not circuit) and see if it syncs.

If you go to tempo view / page on circuit it should spell SYN or something like that on the buttons indicating it’s synced to external clock.

    Hope this helps

i got it to sync doing this ^^ i was unsure how to access midi settings in circuit , or if you could!
can now sync up with my aum jams! thanks man
