Analog 4 Mk ll now class compliant.

  • That makes all current Elektrons class-compliant except for the Octatrack. (OT MKIII incoming?)
A4/Rytm MKI owners are out of luck though. Different USB chipset.

Roland MC-707/101 just got another big update today that adds USB class-compliant audio+MIDI too.
    Good days.

Which , hopefully, pushes price of A4/Rhythm MK1 down  My DT/DN are asking me constantly when they get new "friend" :-))!

Yup, a used A4 Keys is at the top of my list. Used prices are low.

late reply to this, but I am a recent Rytm owner and this feature is amazing with iPads

You can send audio from two Rytm voices (could be the main out, or could be two individual channels ie Kick and Snare) out into the iPad over USB. These voices are then returned (also via USB!) to the Rytm and can be assigned pre/post the Rytm's own FX

So, with my embarrassing wealth of AUv3s, I can send my snare through Discord4, Bandit, EQs, compressors etc etc and then return the signal to the Rytm to be output via its Line Outs. And same for any other Rytm track

Certain of the Rytm's channels share a single voice, you can NOT split this into left and right. For example channels 3+4 are always sent together. This might be a benefit, as then you get 3 (or even 4 if you choose two shared channels) USB outputs. You could put certain sounds that would benefit from the same external processing on both 3+4 and process that in the left USB audio signal through an AUM channel

I need to explore this a lot more, there's a lot of decisions to be made as to which set-up I want to use across all my patterns - dictated by which native-Rytm machines are available on each channel as well as how I wish to create a stabile external iPad set-up for certain specific Rytm channels across all my projects/patterns.

I am leaning towards having my snare externally processed so I can use my AUv3s on it, and perhaps also outputting my Kick, less so for processing but more to remove it from the Rytm compressor so the other elements get a bit more breathing room. Kicks and basses in Rytm tend to occupy the same low space so a bit of EQing and shaping on my Kicks is also a benefit.

Amazing feature and one that caught me by surprise when I re-read the manual today followed by a feverish session testing it out. Haven't seen anyone else mention this so far

  • The Elektron boxes do pack a lot of features. I still want a Digitone Keys, but don't haver room for it.

Does the Rytm have all of Syntakt's machines (other than the FM machines from the Model:Cycles)?
