Cubasis 3 loading forever ( solved)

edited September 2020 in General App Discussion

Hi guys,
I'm experimenting something weird with Cubasis 3.13
I ve been using it this morning to import some tracks from AUM.
It was working properly but after a while it started freezing ( it happens from time to time).
So I closed it and i've never been able to restart it again. It s like loading forever now.
I tried to hard reset and restart my Ipad, but it didn t change anything.
I'm runing last IpadOS14 on an ipad 6th.
I don t want to reinstall the app since I didn t have any recent cloud saving.
Any idea guys?

  • Go to Settings -> Cubasis 3 and enable 'Load empty project on next app launch'.
    That should do it...

    Thank you very much Samu!
    You solved my problem

Unfortunatly it only worked the first time I turned on the "load empty project on next app launch" toggle.
Cubasis is still loading forever and doesn't want to open. I erased and re-instaled the app but I m still having the same issue.
    Never experimented that before.
And no matter if the "load empty project...." toggle is on or off.
    I don t understand.

  • Howe much space do you have left on your device?

Maybe a stupid question but have you tried rebooting the iPad or at least done a 'RAM Wipe' (Ie. hold down power button until the turn off thing comes up and then hold down the home button until you're back on the home-screen).

Maybe it doesn't actually 'freeze' but just takes some time (like a few minutes), how long have you waited?

Other than that I have no clues, never had issues with starting Cubasis but it can take time when it scans thru the plug-ins at start...

I suggest heading over to the Steinberg Cubasis Forum and posting about the issues there.
Lars @LFS is moderating that place and will likely snap up issues pretty quickly...

    Cheers!

    Samu,
I have 60gigas frees in my ipad.
I did tried to restart and hard reset the ipad.
    I also reinstalled the app.
I took my patience and a chronometer, and you were right Samu! Cubasis opens but after 4min and 35sec to be exact! Which is a lot of time to open an app. Even if it s scanning in the background it doesn't seem really normal. Especially since it was opening normally these last few days.
I ll follow your advices and post this on the Cubasis forum.
I suspect the issue could be linked with new IpadOS14.
Thanks again Samu for your help and good advices.

  • What plugins do you have that might be loading? I’ve had Shockwave, Bass 808, and EG Pulse freeze on load pretty frequently.

So I finally found what caused the issue.
I exported 8 tracks separately from AUM into Cubasis at once ( before the problem appeared).
What caused the problem was that each track's input was still set as an IAA with its corresponding AUM portin Cubasis. Switching them to mono as an audio input instead of IAA solved the problem.
    Thanks guys for your help

So in short if you would have launched AUM with the correct session before starting Cubasis the problem would not have happened at all.

This is why I always recommend launching IAA apps first before making any connections to them.

The problem is remember what apps one had loaded before launching or re-launching Cubasis :D

I think the apps you comment DukeWonder might be a bit heavy on CPU. Have you tried to change the buffer size ( or hardware latency)?

Not exactly, cause even with the corresponding AUM session opened first, Cubasis wouldn't start properly neither. And AUM couldn't be routed to Cubasis since to do so Cubasis needs to be opened first when it's used as an output in AUM . It was like a vicious circle.

But you're right, seems like IAA needs to be launched first anyway before being connected.
Thanks again for your help and good advices Samu! I really appreciate!

  • Thanks @Samu! Great!
