Problems setting Cubase up for midi in / thru
I'm trying use something such as Touchscaper or KB-1 to play a hardware synth and record the midi in Cubase at the same time, however I'm not able to get anything regarding midi working at all in Cubasis. This is what I've done:
1) Hardware synth is connected to the iPad via Bluetooth
2) Turned on background audio for Cubasis
3) Add a midi track to Cubasis
4) In the track's routing select KB-1 as the midi input, select all channels
5) Click the Midi through button
6) Connect to the BT dongle via the BLE-MIDI app
7) in the Cubasis track's routing select the Bluetooth destination, select all channels
8) In KB-1 select Cubasis select the midi out destination as Cubasis (Channel 1)
9) In Cubasis hit record and switch to KB-1 and play some notes.
Problem 1: No midi getting through to the hardware synth, but presumably due to:
Problem 2: No midi recorded in the Cubasis midi track.
Why is the midi out from KB-1 not getting into Cubasis. Is there something else I need to configure in Cubasis?
Comments
I've seen the following suggested for a similar issue: if KB-1offers a Virtual MIDI connection to Cubasis, try that instead of the "direct" connection. You may need to change the Cubasis input to Virtual also.
Edit: see this for a clearer explanation.
