Which De-Esser? Klevgränd or 4 Pockets?

I’m looking for a de=esser to reduce sibilance on spoken voice rather than in a musical sense.

Anybody have experience with both or either of Klevgränd’s Esspresso or the 4Pockets app?

Cheers.

  • Outside the box answer: FabFilter Pro-DS... in comes in the Pro bundle which is the best way to lower the prices.

Get them all for $119. Nothing is as good and covers so many requirements as this bundle. Watch for a Black Friday sale maybe if the cost is too dear.

  • save your money, eliminate s from your language!!

translate save to keep and boom no more s

  • Fab filter pro-Q or Tonebooster EQ, use their dynamic EQ functionalities.

  • Barkfilter also has a de-esser preset.
That said, I like Barkfilter for mastering (shoutout to @jolico for the tip) but sometimes I feel it does a little...too much?

Maybe the input level is too hot.
Try normalizing your track to -5.2db and then send it through Tripleband with the limiter switched on.

  • not a fan of de-ess but any eq with dynamics

  • Thanks guys. Some great tips. Embarrassingly I forgot that I own the Fab Filter DS via the bundle.

I’ll experiment with a few dynamic eq’s too.

    Cheers

  • fabfilter all the way
