something I have long found annoying .. in V2 & 3,
It would be great if the App would remember the Mixdown/freeze settings .. for my use I want the freeze to mirror mixdown settings and to have “ Mixdown between locators “ switched on.. as it happens now every time i open the app I have to go in and reset these parameters .. super annoying, would be great to have these settings remembered per Project.. BUT i would be entirely happy if they would just persist when closing and opening the App between sessions..

There are several Persistence setting suggestions made in the list to make users’ lives easy.
Your wish is covered under point #115.
@LFS
51. [PARTIALLY RESOLVED in v3] Zooming in Piano Roll editor in v3 is now implemented with a slider at the bottom right on per-event basis (item #51 in my bug list). Each event has its own zoom level and it is persisted for the current session only. However the zoom factor (vertical & horizontal) and editor height need to be persisted across sessions. It’s ok if the same horizontal and vertical zoom factor is used across all the events in the editor - as long as they (and the editor height) are persisted across sessions, that would be great. Applying the same zoom factor to all events is much more ideal, predictable and consistent.
51) [PARTIALLY RESOLVED in v3] Zooming in Automation Editor in v3 is implemented with a slider at the bottom right and it zooms horizontally. This also needs to be persisted across sessions. Just use the same global zoom setting for both Piano Roll and Automation editors.
36) [RESOLVED in v3] Zooming in Arranger in v3 is implemented with a slider at the bottom right offering 5 levels of track heights (vertical zoom) and horizontal zoom (item #36 in my list) and it is persisted across sessions as expected. I’m impressed by this change on the iPad version.
Please apply all persistence settings and bug fixes to v2 as well.
(EDITED)
What about ghost/linked patterns? Where changing a pattern also applies same change to all other instances.
Haven’t seen this one in the list (perhaps missed it?)
Item #80 “Patterns” covers it -
https://forums.steinberg.net/t/make-producing-music-easier-100-issues-suggestions/156430
I reposted the link above as their new forum has a different link to each comment (with a different URL like a separate article with infinite scrolling) and the page keeps loading/discarding other comments at the top/bottom as we keep scrolling and making Find Text on Page difficult (returns partial/no results most of the time). Reported the issue with Forum page scrolling and finding text issue -
https://forums.steinberg.net/t/layout-and-rendering-issues-with-the-new-forum/679188
I can imagine you could not find the above item on the thread due to this scrolling issue. There are over 170 items in that thread as you scroll.
Yeah, but this item only says “patterns”, with absolutely no explanations or details?
Yeah, That’s what they are. A music app developer knows them. Their new forum is not allowing to edit previous posts. You can refer to #80 and post a detailed explanation as a comment.
You can also add your wishes to the list as comments. If you don’t want to create an account on Steinberg forum, you can post your wishes here (like some people did) and I will add them to the list under your name.
Ah, i see. Didn’t know that 😆
Thank you!
So what will happens to guitarists? If IAA disappears then BIAS and Tonebridge etc will be gone. What other alternatives are there that are auv3 and good? Just leave IAA there, if you don’t need it just don’t use it no?
As far as I know Tonebridge was recently updated and it is AUv3 and if the 'others' want to stay in the game they will most likely have to update their apps sooner rather than later. As longs as users do not actively request AUv3 support nothing will likely happen, in worst cases the apps were created by contractors who no longer work with/for the company...
(Last I heard ToneStack will be getting an AUv3 treatment).
Just because something is 'deprecated' doesn't mean it is automatically 'removed'.
Like with OpenGL(ES) it's 'deprecated' on iOS/iPadOS but it still kinda works but further no development or optimization is done to the frameworks.
The dilemma is that background audio needs to be turned on for somewhat reliable IAA connections and apps with background audio enabled can go 'zombie' if the app crashes and drain the battery faster than needed which is why some apps never leave it on by default and can cause hassle when making connections.
We'll have to wait and see what happens with iOS/iPadOS15 next year.
Considering IK dropped the AUv3 MixBox I suspect they will be dropping some new AUv3's next year as well...
My prediction for 2021 is that we'll see a LOT of apps going AUv3 either thru updates or new versions of apps to cover the expenses..
Cheers!
No! The ability to record AUM channels is the only reason I still use Cubasis at all.
Thanks for the explanation Samu, hope BIAS will up their game next year. I guess it’s a lot of extra programming work.
Check out the zooming feature in the Arranger on the iPhone version where tracks are fixed and cannot be resized and it makes a HUGE difference on the small screen to view more tracks. The horizontal/vertical controls (not the slider widget like it is in iPad version) are at the top of the tracks - just tap them repeatedly to see 4 levels of track heights vertically. At the shortest track height, I can see 16 tracks on the iPhone 6s as opposed to 3.25 tracks in the old/default track height. Horizontally, it just hides the track header column on the left for more horizontal room. On iPad Pro 11”, it accommodates 40+ short height tracks as opposed to 8.25 default height tracks (we can pinch to adjust track heights on iPad but pinch-to-zoom was not possible on iPhone). Nice implementation.
AUM is far more conducive to experimenting with multi-channel fx chains, generative midi setups, etc. There are many options that you couldn’t even do in Cubasis. When you have an AUM channel linked to Cubasis, the Cubasis transport controls show up in AUM.
Forgot the most important one:
I have cb2. Not thinking of buying cb3, sell me on it? Can it do group tracks already? Got a nice Christmas bonus just waiting
And Xynthesizr!
You can group tracks in Cubasis 3 and it has sub folders
Didn’t read the list so you may already have this
*Please add multiple selection of files in Media Bay.
Will try to get on Steinberg forum.
Main things are ..
Tempo mapping
Drummers like GB
Better audio editing
Better inbuilt traditional instruments
How about project name at top of project when open too?
Drummer module similar to GB is on the list.
I pointed out that the built-in instruments and drums are dull and need to be processed with effects to make them stand out. Groove Agent drum module in Cubase for instance has pre-mixed drums and we can just use them as-is. You can suggest what else you need but they may prioritize it low because of the available 3rd party synth AUs that specialize in synthesis, sound design and instruments.
Project Name display may be low priority as other apps like GB don't display them either. In Cubasis, just tap Media Bay > Project folder and the current project is shown highlighted. It is also highlighted on launching Cubasis.
Please go ahead and add your wishes to the list as comments on Steinberg forum.
Media Bay recalling last location.
Enter numerical value for tempo
Drag’n’Drop from Files.app pop-over directly to Cubasis time-line (and the current project and not the media bay) and or Mini Sampler window would speed things up a bit.
The Media Bay could have a tab for ‘Current Project’ which would make re-using already existing midi & audio clips easier without duplicating them since they are already in the project.
(Save to Media Bay and re-import to project duplicates the files).
The sample/audio editor should have the section/reagion markers properly reflect the audio-event istead of having the entire file selected as default...(this is the default behaviour in just about any DAW except Cubasis).
That’s just a few for now...
Cheers!
