  • It opens up with the state that the app was in when you saved (or saved over) the preset the last time.

I just had the most fun train journey to work ever!

A question: Is it possible to reorder the effect slots? Apologies if this has been answered somewhere before.

    No, it's not, yet.

  • Awesome awesome update! Hey I accidentally uploaded an empty preset called "test", might wanna delete that one :)

  • @sebastian So when I click a preset link ON THIS FORUM and open up all the apps in Audiobus, they will be set to whatever the save state in the preset was?

Example: Someone makes a preset using Guitarism, AUFX Space and Loppy. The maker of the preset sets Guitarism to its default acoustic guitar with the distortion effect activated, and AUFX Space is set to the Dark Space preset. They share the link to this Guitarism > AUFX Space > Loopy preset on the Audiobus forum. When I click on the preset and then open all the apps, do they open in the settings chosen by the guy who saved the preset, or do they open in whatever state I left those apps in last time I used them? And is this behaviour different if I already have those apps open when I click on the preset?

The settings that are stored in the AB preset, if the app supports save state. At least that's what happened with funjunkies and Holderness presets above. So Nlog pro changed to the sound funjunkie used, a mono lead, closing the preset and re opening Nlog and it loaded the sound that was there before loading funjunkies AB preset.

My first item to the feature wish list would be a function that automatically opens up each app one by one when loading a preset, so you don't have to deal with all that. Should be a option though, since there are times you might not want that to happen.

That's exactly right, @Michael_R_Grant - the apps will take their state from the preset you opened. The behaviour's the same whether you have the apps open already or not - if the app wasn't running, once it starts up it'll get the state from the preset.

Note that only applies to apps that support state saving (you can see which ones do and don't on the compatible apps directory)

  • One bit of odd behaviour. On my iPhone I still get the old graphics for the app switching panel/tab. Have done a full reinstall/reboot. I guess it's just an aesthetic thing. No functionality lost, right?

  • Thanks, guys! This is wonderful. :)

Didn't I read somewhere that Sector is also going to include the required sample in its shared presets? Are any other apps planning to do something similar?

That will depend on what app page you're on. Some haven't updated their audiobus tabs. This is an uneducated guess ;)

  • Oh perhaps. It's not the same on my iPad though, even with the same (universal) apps (AUFX for example)

  • Great update. I would have thought that if you have Loopy as output for more than one pipeline it would record in different tracks? That would be cool.

Will Cubasis 1.8 have this feature ? Is it even possible?

  • Just got the update: it seems to be working just fine for me, but then I'm haven't done an IAP (iPhone 5 / 7.1).
One question: Is the multi-routing feature (more) applicable to those using peripheral equipment (as opposed to doing everything completely within the iOS environment)?

  • Nah, it's useful for everyone. Especially if you want to use multiple effects apps at the same time.

It's also pretty awesome to be able to add live FX to a drum app like DM1 while keeping your synth lead 'dry'.

  • This is astonishing. I am on iPad 2, with a live dry synth going to Loopy and multiple Loopy tracks going thru Echopad. I really expected multi-routing to not work on my iPad 2. But it does work and I had no crashes, or apps going to sleep. Amazing.

I only wish there was a master bus option for the input slot so I could record the final output to something like Audioshare.

    Excellent update!

Also, the state saving feature has me thinking how this immediately makes intricate routings feasible for live performance. Even with just two inputs and a few effects on an iPad 2, a single tap brings up the desired synth patch, drum kit, and effects parameters. Wow.

And on a newer device where you could keep multiple apps open and ready in the background... Imagine the possibilities!

  • Found a couple of typos in the help tutorial under multi routing

  • Deleting, rebooting and reinstalling fixed the iapp purchase bug here. I do not need the multi-routing feature, but I bought it just to support the unbelievable work that has been carried out with this update. I suggested to Tim at discchord.com that, considering the level of this app, a 1$ fee (at least) for the upgrade would have been the minimum by considering only the state saving feature.

  • Thanks @Xprmntr! Fixed.

  • And thank you very much, everybody else! Great to hear =)

  • Don't tell my wife...but this just became the greatest day of the year for me so far. Not sure how I'm going to get any work done with AB2 out now, and my manager gone for a week!

  • This is so fun!

Such an exciting time for iOS music creation (my current personal favourites: Bias, Final Touch & the other Mastering App, Stereo Designer, Animoog, plus OF COURSE now AB2!), & there are some amazing developers like Sebastian & Michael that are making the stuff of my childhood dreams come true: i.e. PROPER audio production in your pocket! Thank you, chaps! Hoorah!

You're incredible guys, really incredible :)

  • Just wake up and download it and buy it thank you for an amazing app!!!! The crahs happen to mo too but deleted and reinstall after reboot and works fine.

  • I am a Audiobus noob. I have used GarageBand for YEARS to record and it works perfect for what I do. Can one of you guys point me to, or send me some samples of what you have done exclusively on an iPad using Audiobus? I would really appreciate it.

Loopy in input slot shows an info button to select different tracks, but this isn't appearing when Loopy is in the output slot. I was really looking forward to assigning different routings to specific Loopy tracks. Why is this functionality not in output too?
