help with Master Volume on Synthmaster One
Does anyone know a way to access a GLOBAL volume for this synth? I am using it live in standalone mode, and the master volume seems to only be 'per patch' - Any work arounds without hosting it in another app like AUM etc? Otherwise I can turn it down to suit a mood, then change patch and BOOM! - disaster full volume! (not good in church!)
Thanks

Upper right-hand corner: cleverly disguised as a Volume knob.
But ... far better to pre volume level any presets you might use and save your own versions of them. That's always step #1 for me if ever using presets live.
@rhaley As you say, it looks like the volume knob setting is stored with the patch. Actually, I've not seen an iOS synth with a master volume control outside the synth settings. Hosting it in AB3 or AUM may be the cleanest solution, if you cannot access a fader farther down the audio chain.
If your controller has knobs or faders, you could MIDI map one to the volume. Then, when you load a patch, you'd need to remember to tweak the knob to force its value onto the volume control. Obviously, this would be tricky and easy to slip up on.
Oh, now I see that you may have meant a volume control that's independent of the patch.
I don't see how that would help. A global volume isn't a leveler between patches - at least I've never seen anything like that on any app. If patch B is louder than patch A, and you turn the global volume down, they'll both be quieter, but, patch B will still be louder than patch A.
There's no other solution I know of other than pre-balancing your patches.
plus I find all the patch volumes are way to loud and adjusting that global volume with any precision is difficult
Some do like, Neo Soul, LAYR, Pure Platinum, and a few others. I use a midi controller for volume, but I want it to be like every single hardware synth, a master output. Looks like I'll have to host it another app just to have that capability.
I agree, a midi controller solves the onscreen volume knob sensitivity.
I agree, patch design usually includes a volume parameter, but without the rig going through a mixer (software or hardware), is a pain without that feature. 'LAYR' allows the volume to be either Patch or Global. 'Pure Synth' has a Global as well as patch. Picture this scenario....playing in a church setting, someone wants to speak during the worship, I bring the volume down of the pad so they can be heard, I think I know what, this other pad would transition nicely into the next section, then BAM! it overwrites the previous volume.
I run two keyboards for spontaneous live music and 5 Apps (Ravenscroft, Neo Soul Studio, Hammond B3X, QK Dixie, and 1 synth which I keep changing (I think I have bought every one available!). The most versatile for me are Pure Synth, Synthmaster One, or SynthPayer, but the last two (which are my favourites) are not reliable (with stuck notes) as AU,s but are fine as standalones, however, I will need to add a host app just for them :-(
Bulent and the people at KV331 are really helpful and responsive. Maybe worth sending them a feature request? Can’t hurt.
Will do. Thanks
A passive volume pedal is always a good thing to have for church work as long as you and the sound person don’t end up fighting each other.
If your patches are all close to the same relative volume, it’s pretty easy to judge where the master volume needs to be at any time.
I would love for somewhere in settings and this is in any app where I can set the master volume. Poison 202 for example just blows the ear drums when loaded and audio kit apps are the same as SynthMaster is to.
