  • Whoa! That is a crazy combo. Just the other night I was watching this grainy tape of Big L freestyling and thought what if he hadn’t been killed, what gems were we robbed of?

  • @WillieNegus said:
All that said... nobody actually asked for your experience. I’m not being sarcastic or trying to be a 🍆 here. Fact is, the OP was clear and simple. He just wanted to know which IAPs other users recommended as he’d just scored the app at half off, was excited about digging in and looking to cop a few sounds.

Frequently folks raid threads (particularly any mentioning Intua, Blip or MSX apps) and no matter what the title or OP...commence to bashing said app.

That's true, and something I overlooked. I sort of got the impression this topic had moved into a discussion about the app, which it had, and threw my bit in. Would be a slow day at Audiobus forums if every member was waiting to be asked for each user's input.

But you are right. There is probably no place for my point of view in this thread given the OP. You know how these things go though. One minute we're talking about smooth jazz and 2 pages on it's erupted into a battle over whether Billy Sheehan is a better bass player than Victor Wooten.

  • It’s obviously Victor Wooten! I’m JK. I think I said before, I’ve gotten worse things for $5 in my life, and honestly, for my aesthetic, the packs I got for $2 sound super dope. I have samples I’ve dug up that weren’t at a static bpm and required mad work that’s tough on iOS, had unwanted drums, unpleasing artifacts that had to be eq’d out, presented potential copyright issues, etc. that I’ve used after much toiling to make them work and also make them unrecognizable:

I’ve already found a couple of loops in Chomplr that I could have used to the same effect with MUCH less b.s.t. For me this app and the packs fill a need and that is all I want from it.

  • I’m pretty sure that when this app came out, the developer said sample import was coming.

    That’s what it’s about 💪🏽.

BTW, I just caught a kite from Simp @ MSX. Several new features including new file management and UI improvements, sample import and new packs coming soon. Also updates to their other apps.

    Heard the same 👀

  • @WillieNegus haha, I paid a measly $5 with no expectation of any of the features you just found out are coming and now look at me winning! Feels like a stole it. I swear I think the iOS community needs a little perspective. I was looking for an app that generated melodies from chords a while back. I saw a desktop version in a tutorial that was $60 on sale. Then I found Piano Motifs for $3. Sure it wasn’t exactly what I wanted, but def close enough. I posted about it all excited only to get the “well it can’t do this, don’t do that, would be better if...” Find me a $3 session piano player who can play endless original melodies which is what PM has become for me after a million updates. I bet you that at best he/she is going to stink figuratively and literally and will guaranteed steal all your gear. Shit I remember the homies saving up for hardware for months if not years for an app equivalent that I paid a few bucks for and carry around in my pocket today.

  • “This app is cool and all, but it don’t import cheeseburgers so I deleted it”

  • @WillieNegus @hansjbs You guys are waaay too defensive about this app!

For me, I read the description and the ABF/FB feedback and realised it was pretty limited in features so have not jumped in. Looking forward to see where they take it though.

  • @WillieNegus Sorry to target you again but you seem knowledgeable. Is there a way so save the changes you make to a sample?

any changes to each slice such as vol rel start end psich pan saving to au host presets. Moreover it can be applied to any loaded sample preset in chomplr. In addition there is something like a parameter lock function so during playing/ playback any parameter of any slice is controlled by one knob but is set individually for each slice.

I have to say, I really agree with you here. I’ve even seen this on apps that are totally free, people absolutely ripping the developer to shreds because the free app doesn’t work exactly the way they wanted. What a strange mentality.

I like it and its simplicity, but haven't used it since I bought it and won't be using it until I can import my own samples. The only feature I miss.

Same here. Had fun the first day, then I forgot to have it...

Yes I am because I know what these guys have up their sleeves. ;) .Also because MSXAUDIO, Decap, Illmind are top 3 favorite content makers so I go extra when it comes to their stuff. I trus their content same way I trust each one of them as a person.

All of this. It gets pretty deplorable at times.

  • @WillieNegus @hansjbs I’ve had it for a minute and just cracked it open to check some of the IAP’s out and see if I could get some inspiration. Chomplr is a vibe! Have y’all heard Plans about it going universal (iPhone support). I really want this when I’m on the go!

Imagine you are in a poor country. A man who has spent the last three months collecting unwanted homeless cats from all over the country sees you and offers you, the weary traveler a free sandwich and a cup of water. You say yes, thank you, a free sandwich would be lovely. You hit the download button and sit down to wait for your sandwich to arrive. When it does you are handed a salad and cat penis sandwich. A range of options are before you depending on your personal point of view. You might say mmm, yummy yummy, thanks again and wolf it down. You might gag a little and say thanks, I appreciate the effort and but I really can't eat that. You might even be an avid cat lover and become outraged that you have wasted your time sitting waiting for a sandwich that offends your love of cats. All of these seem reasonable to me. I agree it's probably not fair to go off on a completely aggressive rant but just because it is free shouldn't prevent someone from voicing their opinion.

🎯 It would definitely be dope on iPhone especially with coming user import. Would make using with my other gear like M+, MPc One etc easier. Can’t speak for @hansjbs but I’m not aware if that’s coming in this update.

I highly recommend hitting them at their forum or support. I bet they’d like to hear feedback or any feature requests and see what you’ve been up too as far as the videos. Talented and engagable brothas over there.

Yes it’s best to ask them but they did mention plan for universal I don’t remember where I saw the comment tho.

  • It’s all fun and games until the cat penises come out. “You’ll poke your eye out!”

  • If I’ve said it once I’ve said it a million times, I will not use chomplr until it can import cat penises!

  • @king_picadillo I see your weekend is well underway! 😀

  • @gusgranite my plug hit me with some of them Trump drugs! They’re good as f@ck but suddenly I want to deport myself

My first beat using Chomplr in 15 minutes with NanoStudio 2. Chomplr is 🌊 (wavy). I can’t wait to dig in and see what cookups are possible with more time!

  • @ipadbeatmaking Salute, while some out here are debating missing spices and ingredients, you’re cookin’!

  • yes but maybe the missing spices are preventing those people from cooking their dish. ipadbeatmaking might have the ingredients but some don't. it's not just hey good job man. you rose above it all and made a killer tune while others sat around and whined. i for one have no interest in making that particular recipe.
