Yamaha Synth Book over Audiobus inside DAW not exporting sound
Hi, I have Turnado as AU fx on insert in Cubasis 3. I am not able to bounce or export or record its sound. This plugin seems to not sending output on that particular track channel. Do you have experience with this? On PC it is working.
Documentation does not contain any info: https://downloads.sugar-bytes.de/manuals/Turnado_iPad.pdf#page18
As a current workaround I use standalone Turnado with builtin sampler to manually process individual stem.
One of the solutions might be dedicated Turnado processing inside Audiobus and route somehow as audio track inside DAW (Cubasis group channel perhaps).
Thank you for any help.
Comments
It does work in other hosts (NS2/BM3) but maybe does have issues specific to Cubasis 3.
Oh it seems specific to Audiobus. Cubasis 3 cannot mixdown from Audiobus audio input. I can hear it, I can even see it in the Cubasis mixer, but it does not export the stem nor master mixdown with this. Perhaps I need something like real-time export?
Even freeze does not work. Plugin is routed in Audiobus to Cubase. It created Audiobus track automatically & plays on the mixer. But does not freeze nor export. Found only 2013 Cubasis 2 bug: https://www.steinberg.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=34304
Also when the routing in Audiobus is removed or have some issue, Cubasis track is removed and I just lost all of my insert effects including automation.
Ok, it's not about Turnado. It's about Yamaha Synth Book app with AN1X (AN5X). If I choose another app like Thor, it will record. The question is why Yamaha Synth Book is not being recorded even I:
1) see & hear inside Audiobus mixer
2) see & hear inside Cubasis mixer
Arm record for the channel and record the audio to the track. Audiobus input is just like recording from a mic or guitar. As long as you have some recorded audio on the track, it won't be removed.
Ok, thanks a lot. So you need to hit Record button on Transport panel inside Cubase and record realtime. Freeze nor Mixdown export will work with Audiobus. I had to restart Yamaha Synth Book and record realtime using transport controls and now it works. Still Turnado effect is ignored for the recording. Perhaps I need to record from Audiobus first and then duplicate to a separate audio track and re-record (resample) there using Turnado. It is Turnado specific issue, other plugins like PREAMP and Eventide are working, it seems (or I'm getting ear fatique :-D )
Actually, this is probably what you want, I think. You're capturing the "raw" input, which should then play back through Effectrix, no? That gives you the flexibility to mess with Effectrix. Freeze may also work now that you have something in the track.
Or, do you not hear Effectrix when you play back the track?
Effetrix/Turnado whatever. Yes you hear that during the play. Problem is Cubasis 3 is not recording ANY of Audiobus audio tracks with freeze or mixdown export functions. And I did not know that and did not expect that.
This problem happens when you record analog synth - you cannot record at higher that realtime speed that's why there is silence. If you record realtime using transport controls then Audiobus will feed the midi and inter-app plugins. Other than this realtime scenario, it will not work even Cubasis is sending midi to Audiobus and Audiobus is sending audio back to Cubase. I was thinking in this digital ITB scenario it will be able to bouce/export/resample offline with full-speed. This way Reason + Cubase works over Rewire and similar interfaces, for example. Two separate apps, ITB solution, full speed audio bounce, no need for realtime record, works including midi rounting between the hosts with plugin delay compensation.
OK, yes, Audiobus isn't like Rewire. It's a host that can appear to apps hosted in it as an audio input.
Maybe you don't need Audiobus to do what you want to do. Why not host the plugins directly in Cubasis 3? Cubasis 3 should be able to host virtually any app that Audiobus can.
turnado got problems in cb3 ithink atm, not using daw at all tho switching to modular (AUM+tons of cht)
