L7 looper auto threshold click woes

Despite mostly using GTL, I bought L7 in the recent sale as it had one cool feature that GTL doesn't... Auto threshold recording. And it'll send the tempo of that to AUM. YAY!

However, it nearly always clicks, at least on percussive material. I tried a few guitar things and some higher frequency percussive things which were OK, but not anything in the Kick area. Even tried with Attack Softener in the chain to no avail. I have made a little video of this. Note I'm using a delay on one hit of the kick, on a send from both digistix and L7.

Any helpful hints with this?

Secondly, my brain deduces that if you're using threshold detect for recording it's coz your hands are busy playing something. In which case it might be nice not to have to stab at the screen with your preoccupied finger to end that recording. But I see no function for ending the recording in the list of exposed parameters in AUM.

This is one of those 'you gotta be kidding' moments, like not being able to switch presets in digistix via midi CC.

Please add it to your fine software product Mr developer!

There are MIDI bindings for stopping record. MIDI bindings are found I. L7’s menus.

@espiegel123 Ah Ok thanks for that. I should have thought about checking that avenue.

  • @danielfromcodalabs ... Have you found this issue before? It does seem to be a bit variable. I was trying some kick sounds just using built in audio and speakers with no major issue, but when I went back to using my interface and midi controllers the clicks were inescapable.
