    iPhones will never get USB-C because of their flimsy design and Apple knows it. It will result in more broken ports complaints on pocket phones. Lightning is stronger but USB-C is ideal for desk devices. It is flimsy even on iPad Pros. Whoever designed it (group of large companies actually) had a flawed design of it for mobile devices.

    What we need is a wireless and CONTACTLESS charging - like how Bluetooth works.

    Without a port similar to usb-c I'm less likely to upgrade my iphone for video and audio applications. I'm glad they made the switch for iPad though.

    The new phones come with $30 MagSafe charger support. We can charge the phone on its back using MagSafe (also talk while it is charging) and also plugin headphones, etc through the Lightning port at the same time.

    If they bring $40 MagSafe to iPads, it will alleviate the problem of lack of headphone jack
