KQ Dixie Manual
Hi Synthetic Folks,
I am trying to use the KQ Dixie manual offline.
I have downloaded from their site but cannot use it. I am on an iPad 6th gen. I usually copy files to Books and they are read as PDFs. Not so with the KQ Dixie manual. It is barely readable kind of like in portrait mode with very few words per page in a narrow column.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Bruce

Yaman @Bellows - save/share it as "Reader PDF". You change that under Options> (It's automatic by default)

@Bellows The Dixie manual will help with the app controls, especially the rather tricky cartridge management. But I strongly recommend finding the Yamaha DX7 manual to understand the purpose of the various controls. The best is the newer one, dated 5/20/99 (on the last page). The file I have is called dx7-manual.pdf, but I might have created that name. The original manual, DX7E1.pdf, has some of the same info, but it's less complete.
Thanks noob, I never even noticed that “options” tab. I had to search for it. Did the trick for sure.
Dave, thanks also. I do need that. I want to understand the FM process. I have played DX7s and owned a DX1 once upon a time.
Great group here 👍💕
The key non-obvious things in the Yamaha manuals are the meaning and purpose of keyboard level and rate scaling, and how the velocity adjustment works. Of course, you can ignore the tedious details of the original DX7 gui. The Dixie gui is great because you can jump between functions and operators so easily.
But the key thing to learn is to remember to Save your patch to the cartridge, and Save the cartridge. You will forget this, and it's quite annoying when you lose a carefully crafted patch.
You can find and download the original factory cartridges; they just drop in to Dixie. And, of course, there are massive collections of user-created patches available.
