how to assign midi in apesoft AUV3 apps? idensity/apefilter etc
Hello!
I have instances of idensity (mfx) and apefilter(mfx) loaded in cubasis, zenbeats, and AUM and in all instances the midi assignment panel of the control manager is grayed out
given that all of these plugs are specifically designed to receive midi input (mfx) it seems there must be some way of addressing these parameters... especially in a host like cubasis that does not allow midi assignment at the host level
Has anyone had any luck getting these to receive midi input? Do they have default midi assignments when loaded as AUV3? Is there any way to get the midi panel activated in control manager when loaded as an AUV3?

In AUM, you should be able to route MIDI to the AUv3 using the AUM MIDI routing matrix. Not sure about the others, but I think it's correct that an AUv3 cannot manage its own inputs; that's the responsibility of the host.
@uncledave thank you for this. many auv3s do have this Ability to manage their own midi assignment bypassing the most, nurack is one example of this but many other auv3s can do it also. If you look within the apeSoft plugs they all have their own control manager that allows for midi learn, it just seems to be disabled by default(hopefully not permanently) when hosted as an auv3
As for MIDI learn, do they publish their parameters, so the host can control them directly? Then you can use the host to assign controls to them. That's an alternative way to get MIDI parameter control.
@uncledave yes they do- but for certain hosts such as cubasis this is not possible, that is why plugs like nurack have their own internal midi assignment that bypasses the need to rely on the host
In AUv3, parameters are preferable to MIDI. The parameters are named, there are no confusing channels to deal with, etc. So generally in AUv3 the parameters get center stage (esp. in apeMatrix!).
But most AUv3 hosts provide a way to assign MIDI to these parameters.
In AUM, use MIDI CTRL:
