Index of links to music created by users of AB Forum
Hi,
Is there some index of links (to youtube / home pages / others sites, etc.) to music created only by users of this forum?
If not, do you think it is good idea to create something like that?
Assumptions:
- I think entry can be edited for a month only, so in this first thread could be link to the prepared website contain index with links
- The index can be updated based on the entries from the comments
- The list should be alphabetical by the nickname
- Is it good idea to create index of our music?18 votes

I clicked Yes, and it submitted as No. 😭
I will do poll again
TBH, tho I am a compulsive creator, the focus of this forum is on technology and the release of new apps. Folks can visit the Creations category and have their fill of music produced by members. I think that is sufficient for those so inclined. It’s a good idea, but so was the Wiki. Not a lot of interest here, IMO. And that is probably as it should be.
Thanks @LinearLineman for the opinion. You're right, that's what the category is for
However such index could in some way make possible to reach the music of a members faster, of course only that members, who want be on the list. Additionally, it would be more ordered - currently in the "Creations" tab you cannot sort the music according to the person who created it and you have to navigate through the subpages. Of course it's a lot of fun to discover music that way and it should stay like that. I'm just thinking only of adding some extra to it.
In fact, I think that the best option is that the "Creations" tab should contain eg. a topic pinned to the top with an alphabetical list of nicks and allow you to manage by add/delete links to your nickname. It would be a game changer that is mentioned in the "Something game changing (for some) & wallet killing coming next week?" topic, but for free
Hovever this kind of solution is possible only by Audiobus side. One of an alternative I see is a separate page with the option of login and managing your own profile + link on forum to that site.
If anyone has an idea how to organize this the best way (if at all), a comment is welcome
You could simply add a new wiki page... and keep it up-to-date.
There is already one for YT channels: List of iOS Music Related Video Channels and Sites
do it! why the hell not, lets roll , fk the wiki nobody reads that
IMO a wiki page with a pinned post at the top with a link to it is all that's needed. I'm fairly confident people can figure out how to add a line for themselves. Or, someone (you?) could curate it.
A thread can only be ordered chronologically and also inevitably gets cluttered with a lot of discussion. Some threads have someone that maintains a master list at the top, but the originator is the only one who can edit it, and then only for a year before editing is locked. It's just too disorganized to be effective.
A wiki page can be edited by anyone, stays put, and doesn't invite discussion. If people want to draw attention to having added themselves or someone else to the wiki page, all they need to do is post in the sticky thread. If they want to be added but don't know how to do it, they can request someone to do it in the thread.
Nice and tidy.
again, nbdy reads the wiki for other purposes than technical, keep the meatballs separated , but you guys mite be right... could be wrong but smth ....sterile with "wikis"
Nobody needs to "read the wiki". They just need to click on a link from the thread. The list would be just a web page like any other. The thread would still be dynamic like any other, but with a link in the first page to the dreaded "sterile" list.
Jazz up the list with some colors or links to porn if it's too foreboding.
EDIT:
Thank you so much for all the comments
I created a wiki page at the address: Music by AB Forum Members It's ready, you can add itself to the list to encourage others
If you have any suggestion to change in the site, please write.
It's very convenient that anyone can edit it. Everyone can manage their links at any time, no lags for update by one admin, etc. So far all the votes in the poll are for "yes"
Do you think is it possible to pin topic with link and short description to this wiki at the top in "Creations" tab? This is where people look for music to listen to, and after seeing the "announcement" probably more members start to add itself to the list I think. Or maybe it's a bad idea and it will only annoy some people unnecessarily?
Wiki posts are easy to find and update. Forum threads do not work well for updating and retrieving information. They make sense for conversations of transient import.
If you think something would be of interest a few months or a year from now, putting it in the wiki will make it possible to find it easily.
That's a question for @Michael.
Good job on the wiki page setup. 👍🏼
Sounds good! You write the post, and I’ll pin it to the category?
Thanks
Dear Michael,
Thank you, I just writing post to you now
EDIT: message sent
My proposition is:
Thank you
title: "Music by AB Forum Members"
content: "If you would like to share your music with others, please visit this site and add yourself to the list"
and link to: https://wiki.audiob.us/doku.php?id=wiki:music_by_ab_forum_members
My english is imperfect and poor, so feel free to add something or change according to yourself
👍 All good; post it as a new thread and I’ll pin it
ready
Cool! Done
Thank you everyone for support, especially @wim and @Michael. Also thanks for completed the poll. I hope the index will get bigger - I'm not alone anymore on it
Now have to go for quick sleep and wake up in 2 hours to go to job at 7 am
