These replacement ear pads are definitely worth the money. Much more comfortable and better built than the Sony pads or other knockoffs.
Nothing in that price range can beat the Grado SR80E, especially If you're listening straight out of the ipad jack without something like a Dragonfly, DAC/headphone amp or etc.

Grados are good but in order to avoid annoying those around you closedback headphones are needed 😎
Never tried them, but the AKG K175/K245/K275 are currently dirt-cheap at Amazon. $59 for the all-metal open K245. This line was apparently the last AKG-designed cans before Samsung bought Harman. 32ohm; 114/109/109db sensitivity.
Or these ATH-PRO7X which are ~75% off ($55 down from $200). 37ohm; 100db sensitivity.
Amazon Best-Sellers in this category. Sennheiser HD559 were $65 new last week, direct from Amazon.
Another vote for Sony MDR-7506’s. These plus Morphit when applicable seem to serve my humble purpose. Also, a case for everything and everything in it’s case! My headphones case came from https://www.geekriashop.com/collections/carrying-case
Anyone have the ATH Pro7x? They’re DJ hps, but reviews sound great.
I want to like Sennheiser HD280s because I have them and I've seen "pros" using them, but they sound so radically different from any other headphones, IEMs, monitors I use. Always seems to me like they overemphasize midrange and underrepresent the bass.
