Recording SWAM Expression
I mentioned this in a couple of threads, but just want all SWAM users to know about it. If you are using a midi controller to record a GeoSWAM instrument and use a DAW like Cubasis (it absolutely works in CB) you can record an unfettered SWAM track and then record over it using the GeoShred app to add the expression parameters.
Much easier than try to get it all at once. I’m guessing this won’t work in AUM, but don’t really know.
Edit: make sure you enable “R W” in the AU GeoShred and record on the midi track. Also enable parameters like Growl, Bow adjustments, etc
.

Great information, thank you. I just tried it using the iPad GeoShred keyboard rather than a midi controller and it it also seems to work like that, I.e, you can record the basic notes, then record expression on top.
@LinearLineman I’d be interested in a video for sure, even a screen recording.
Hi @mjcouche. I don’t know how to make a screen recording, but here is what Cubasis3 looks like when ready to record the expression over the midi on the first track...
You’ll laugh once you realize how simple it is.

@Intrepolicious, that does look pretty easy. I’ll give it a try.
Yup, just remember to tap the icon again to stop recording. I forgot to one time and had a three hour long video of browsing the forums and playing with various apps saved in my camera roll lol
@LinearLineman thanks. So you don’t “play the notes” again, correct? Just record over the previous midi with the expression?
Exactly, @mjcouche!
I’m bumping this thread cause I now have an example of the technique I described. Although not every parameter, like portamento, can be employed. In this track vibrato and growl were added to the GeoSax track after the fact...
