easy way to merge multiple midi tracks into a single midi track? xequence?
Hello!
I have a number of midi tracks for different instruments that I want to merge into a single instrument~ anytime I export using xequence all of the tracks stay on their individual instrument lanes
is there any way in xequence or in any other software to easily merge multiple midi tracks into a single track and re-export? I know this is possible by re-routing and re-recording the midi to a single track in realtime but I am hoping to find a less time consuming process that involves just importing, converting, re-exporting
@SevenSystems is there any setting buried within xequence that would allow for this sort of merging? I know this is the opposite of what most people typically want as the manual seems to stress how one can avoid the 'problem' described above but in my case merged tracks is the end goal

that will result in 1 fat blob of midi on 1 channel , just like taking all the tracks and merge them, same thing. The result no matter how you do it will be a merged mess. Only way I can think of is if the stem comes with undo saved within the take, Photoshop got this when saving .PSD...
Hi! Yes, this would be quite easy to do.
In your project where you have several tracks / instruments that you would like to export into a single track in a MIDI file, go to the "..." screen, then the "Project" tab, and disable "Automatically manage tracks".
Then, back in the arranger, tap on each track's "..." button and select the same Destination Instrument.
Then, export the MIDI file -- it should contain all tracks on a single track.
@SevenSystems gorgeous thank you so much!
@noob I know that normally with a file with percussion/bass etc this would be the case, but my goal is to merge a bunch of piano tracks to play on a single piano
but but... isnt easier just drag n drop em into a new track?
@noob
I'm working on a project in cubasis with tight cpu constraints that keep hitting the dsp meter past 100 and for some reason just the relatively lite act of routing the midi out of cubasis and then back in so that all of the piano channels are routed to the same synth pushes the cpu/dsp usage too far
