IOS APPS, HARDWARE, AND EURORACK

DELETE IF THIS WAS ALREADY POSTED...
Sincere apologies if this has been posted previously but this is a really nice article/video of merging worlds. I think this resonates with many of us, and can be helpful for those who are putting pieces of their IOS/HW/ER puzzles together.

There's actually some connectivity solutions I was not aware of previously in the article but if you wanna skip to the video, check it out here.

Good stuff, I'm surprised they didn't mention Expert Sleepers ES-8. When it comes to having an swiss knife audio interface, it can't be beat. Using it with miRack and Eurorack hardware is a like a dream.

    Are you currently using one?

Yup, ES-9 here but I have both.

I used pitch and gate outputs of 0ctrl into ES-9, which I passed through a Quantizer in miRack to convert the incoming pitch into a scale. Then, converted that into MIDI to sequence AU synths.

Also, great to use ES-8 for generating LFOs or sending clock from miRack. The mother of all utility modules.

I like that concept (analog control of the digital world.)

I did use an ES-8 for a while but that was when Audulus was the only option.

@BroCoast Thanks, yeah, I've been trying to mix digital and analog in my channel. Another great module is Befaco CV Thing which also converts cv to midi. Sending Maths and Wogglebug into that to control midi cc is a lot of fun. More often suprising, because you don't know where you'll end up.

With miRack as an AU and AUM, the possibilities are endless and much flexible, since audio FX AU can be layered in as well and combined with Eurorack modules.

  • @auxmux Yeah, odd that they didn't mention the ES8/9. That's a Ferrari module IMO.
But how did you end up with both? Other than the obvious additional I/Os, why did you upgrade?
Also feel free to donate any unused ES8 modules to my NGO called people-who-want-all-expert-sleepers-modules.co.uk ok thanks bye lol.

😅 @DatGood Lots of luck and watching stores for their availability obsessively, heh. Had pre-ordered ES-9, which took months to arrive. In meantime, ES-8 became available. Decided to get it.

Mostly the reason for having both is devoting ES-9 to audio inputs and having ES-8 as a utility module for LFOs/clock/etc with miRack etc or using with a computer or with 2nd iPad.

Having ES-8 eliminates the need for buying at least 3-4 utility modules like Pamela's New Workout, Zadar, Batumi, since it can be extended with ES-5 and other expanders. Haven't had a need to get the expanders yet. Mostly because I don't have a massive system.

I recommend reaching out to some stores for when they are going to get shipments and maybe pre-ordering based on that. Signal Sounds in UK/Scotland usually gets ES stock first, so they might be a good place to order from. They shipped ES-8 to the US within days using UPS.
