His approach to iOS makes it uninteresting to me.
There are any number of iOS apps that already do what imitone does, probably with a combined price less than what he is charging. Just my completely biased observation
Ok so as far as controlling music with voice... I kind of use midi guitar for this. Just plug a mic into it and get midi out. It's kinda cool with the z3ta arps.
But unless I misunderstood this piece above... What other apps do this? Really I was just tryin to think of this when Key In was released the other day
@shawnLeonhardt Thumbjam!
and Midi Morphis
I have both of those.... How did I miss that
What's the process of setting the apps up to do this kinda thing?
Wow. For voice, I'd recommend ThumbJam. For guitar, there's my app (MIDImorphosis), MIDI Guitar, Sonuus G2M, Jam Synth, Shredder, and probably a few others. My app is designed to pick up multiple harmonic frequencies from guitar, and is polyphonic. Unless you're doing Tuvan throat singing, ThumbJam is probably the best bet for vocals. If imitone is doing something special, I've completely missed it.
They've got $50k pledged for this? I think it's high time for me to do a Kickstarter for an app that makes fart sounds. That ought to rake in at least $200k.

Hey, I'm in! If a backer pledges enough, you should feature them as a... ahem, "sample.".
Kickstarter and indiegogo used to be decent projects now it is mostly Hollywood pet projects and people who get lucky and find a bunch of investors for something that exists.
I hope the folks on this forum realize that not many people know much about iOS recording. I'm not joking. We are all pretty scattered here on this forum so go turn it into money. I may finally be getting the music stores to listen to me for IOS lessons. They are so behind the times.

For ThumbJam, check out the following threads:

http://forum.audiob.us/discussion/2610/was-thumbjam-made-by-god/p1 (about half-way down discusses a few more details)
For the other apps mentioned, it is their primary function, so you shouldn't have any trouble figuring it out...
Update : an ios app will be developed, no word yet on release date, will be interesting to see how this stands out from other apps with similar abilities
I'm still pretty new to all of this so excuse my ignorance. Am I to understand that you can actually sing or hum into Thumbjam and have that converted into MIDI which can then be exported into other apps that support that and have them play that pattern with their instruments? And am I also to understand you can use that feature as a real-time MIDI controller for other iOS apps that support MIDI in?
if the answer to both of those questions is yes then what's the point of investing in this Kickstarter project and why don't I already have Thumbjam on my iPhone and iPad?
First two questions: "yes" and "yes."
Point of investing in the kick starter: "I don't know."
Why you don't already have ThumbJam installed: "I don't know."
Tap the microphone button in TJ, and hum away.

Thank you so much for your reply. You've actually convinced me to finally purchase Thumbjam. It's been at the top of my wish list for a while, for the excellent sound samples, among many other things, but I've been trying to slow down on purchasing more music apps so I can concentrate on the ones I already have. This is too difficult to pass up though. I'm a quadriplegic so being able to play lots of different instruments just by using my voice would be a big deal for me.
I may actually back this Kickstarter anyways just so I can have similar functionality on my Mac.
This just keeps getting better and better! :-)
