  • For sure this has good sounds, but it isn't a proper synth so tweakability is limited. If you want a desktop mpe experience I'd say pay a bit more and go for Equator, Cypher 2 or Strobe 2 depending on personal taste. Equator best for more natural sounds, Cypher my fave for weirder stuff!

  • It's basically NOISE for desktop, but with the Equator engine supplemented by an FXpansion engine instead of the SWAM one. Assuming it's licensed through ROLI's Connect system, it should have an upgrade path to the full versions of Equator, Cypher, and Strobe; if so, it'll pay for itself as & when you decide to upgrade, and if you don't, you still have a huge and gorgeous collection of MPE patches.

    as an ableton user (: Im just looking for a better mpe experience on macos! just got tired of using multi track set ups and crazy i/o settings (:

    I’m not sure Roli Studio will answer any MPE problems in Live. It’s still just an instrument plugin, even though it draws sounds from more than one. You can’t sequence in it, you still need an MPE DAW for that, Bitwig (my choice), Logic or Reaper for example.
