MIDI App of the Year [2020 Edition]
Some have asked for this. Let’s see what tickled your fancy this year in the Midi dept
Comments
Drambo.
Atom 2 when it drops
ChordBud 2
Chordpolypad going AU
Tonality updates
LK updates
Piano Motifs
Pure Acid.
Unfortunately only the standalone version has midi out.
Riffer
LK
Piano Motifs and Tonality split decision. Watching those apps develop has been amazing.
Piano motifs
Tonality- not 2020 but so many great updates
ChordBud2
ArpBud2
When did Touchscaper get Midi Out? I think it was this year...
Agreed. I spoken with both developers, many times, Ive even have some of my ideas incorporated into tonality. Two great apps, two great developers, and two great people.
NuRack and SoundFonts is the only ones I can come up with that is actually 2020. I did mention MidiGuitar2 in the other thread out of pure happiness it became AUv3 but to be fair, that's a real old app (+7years). Taking up not yet released apps is kinda strange
Personal faves so far:
Piano motifs
Arp bud
Ioniarics
Probably will add LK when it finally take the time to learn how to use it
Atom 2 when it comes out
Sorry but I must correct you. The Inter App Audio version does have Midi out, check the grey toaster like box in the upper righthand side. A main menu pops up and ou can configure Midi in and Out from this menu.
Similar experience with the Tonality Dev. Very responsive. Tonality would be my choice by some distance. The updates are of a scale that it's almost like a brand new app anyway
Isn’t iaa and standalone the same instance?
We still have the same problem. Only one instance is available with midi out.
The AuV3 needs midi out.
Sure it does mean only one instance in AUM, but it is easier to use than in stand alone since you do have quick access. We can only hope it aduio init extensions at sometime in the future.
Think of IAAs as links to standalones.
Some open quicker from AUM and some only open on the second try.
Some need the app to already be opened before selecting it as an IAA inside AUM.
