Drambo ; longer notes
Hello folks.
I am currently trying to figure out how to program in basslines with longer notes, such as a baseline where each note is two bars long, in an eight bar long loop.
If I adjust the beats per pattern the little sequencer squares become so small it’s impossible to select where a note starts an ends. I feel like there must be an easier way of doing this that I am missing?!
Thanks folks

Tap, hold, and drag your finger to the right.
Edit: misread question.. 🤷♂️
You don't have to adjust the beats that show all the way out to 8 bars. If your notes are 2 bars long, you could expand it to just 4 bars to give you more space for your fingers.
You can also engage the "step" button and adjust the Gate for the note there. That's far from ideal, but sort of lets you dial in note lengths that way. It's not very precise though. I wish you could tap and insert any number like you can with other parameters.
If you have ideas how this could work better in Drambo, it would be good to make the suggestions over on their forum. There's an active and focused community there, and it's likely to get more attention from the developer over there.
Maybe I misunderstood the question?
@wim nailed it (of course).. 👍 in case a visual is needed, here you go..
The total sequence length is 4 bars long.. I’m only viewing the first 2 bars here.. and I put a 3 beat (12 steps) note in the middle of it (straddles onto the next screen).. this is where adjusting the gate length worked perfectly..
BUT I’m a bit confused here.. if I dial in 12 on the gate length, 13 steps are highlighted.. Should I only enter 11.5 steps (as I did here) in order to have 12 steps highlighted? I think the initial note counts as .5 doesn’t it? 🤷♂️
Great response both of you. This should help a lot, going to to this now! Fingers crossed
It's always going to be a bit confusing trying to do piano roll type things in a step sequencer. I think Drambo does a pretty good job. There's always room for improvement of course. And somewhere in the roadmap I think there's even plans for a piano roll style sequencer module, if I remember correctly.
([edit] and ... "No" in advance to whoever is already typing out the question "Is there some place I can access this roadmap?")
Don't rely too much on highlighting during editing. It's still a bit buggy.
The length you set in the vertical "Gate" bar will work correctly.
Is there any way to set it with smaller than 0.5 beat that way though? Plus, that’s a lotta taps just to lengthen a note.
I’ve not run into any problems with highlighting. I guess I’ve just been lucky.
Not in the sequencer, better note editing has yet to come.
You could p-lock the hold time of an AHD env on each step but that would affect all voices.
If you want the gate to stay open for an indeterminate length of time, use the switch module as a gate source and control it with p-locks. You can always use a logic OR to combine this with the main sequencer. Haven't tested this though but can't see why it wouldn't work. Would get tricksy with polyphony I guess.
Thanks for that info.. 👍
