Quickest loop resampling method? (sEGments & EG Pulse?)
I am still struggling to find the best method to resample loops within AUM (or any DAWless host). My idea is:
- hit record to record predefined length loop, e.g. 2 bars
- hit slice, either choose from transient detection or based on grid
- be able to play separate slices, ideally also to be able to create patterns and save as preset
- bonus would be if there's already pattern that will play all slices as original loop
The closest to this is combo sEGments + EG Pulse, but I am missing few things:
- no predefined length to record, you need to start and stop record manually
- the migration from sEGments to EG Pulse is very awkward, if there was an immediate button "save in EG pulse" and you'd just switch to it and open pattern, that would be much easier than: 1. saving a preset with some name 2. opening preset browser again
- there are already some patterns with notes but they are quite weird, it would be enough to have first pattern with simply slices playing as they were in original loop + maybe aligned to grid.
Another idea would be to not use EG Pulse at all and use some other MIDI plugin to play with slices like Octachron, Atom or LK... But it's a pity as EG Pulse could save both patterns and audio, with extra MIDI plugin, you need to save twice to keep your material for later use.
I was also exploring Drambo but I was having hard times making Flexi sampler work as expected. But maybe it's possible, I just didn't try hard enough
Maybe there are also some other apps to consider I am missing, please let me know your workflow!

Just BTW - BeatMaker3 is the best for this kind of resampling. But it does not fit into my current setup completely in AUM where I'd like to keep everything in one project without switching back and forth between apps.
I agree segments should have a dedicated button , I think there is room in the gui to add it. Would save some hoop jumping
I mentioned this before in the segments thread, but sadly ignored or over looked
Fingers crossed
Have you mailed the dev with the seguesment
Planning to do it. I already gathered some more improvement suggestions and when I think I have enough experience I'll email it to them.
