As the owner of the SoundFonts 4U site - just letting piano enthusiasts know that over the last couple of days I have released new versions of the Salamander that are lower resonance (add you own reverb), as well as some very resource-light versions (as low as 21mb) that still capture that nice Yamaha C5 sound. Also some new Steinways and Chateau Grands available.
All free downloads - check it out!

I've also tailored some versions for the relatively new app called "SoundFonts" and they do play nicely.
@Reuben, thanks so much for all these sound fonts! I find them, and in particular the variety of sizes offered outstanding. You're providing a wonderful resource and service.
You should put a Buy Me a Coffee or PayPal contribution link somewhere on your site.
Glad you are enjoying them wim. If you are ever down in Sydney Australia I'll be expecting that cup of coffee!
In no particular order.
SoundFonts AU or bismark bs16 for Steinway, Yamaha, Chateau, Electric, etc SF2 from SoundFonts4u.com. Also great Strings, Organs, Keys, Choir, Guitars, Bass SF2 as well.
Ravenscroft or the IAP inside Beathawk which is almost identical.
Pure Synth Platinum
Neo Soul Keys Studio 2
Grand Piano AUv3
Also moodunits is nice but they are very spacey not clean keys per se
SoundFonts (The App) just got some built in effect, reverb and delay. Very nice but unfortunately they don't seem to work with AU, just standalone. I reported it already. That app gets updated every second day it seems.
Thanks for the awesome sf2 variations on your site @Reuben. I'm gonna have to rethink this whole sf2 world as I'm new to it and been downloading and testing all over the place. Going to use polyphone(desktop) to select what I need to save space and get some order.
I use your SF2 in most sessions. Thank you.
FWIW, here is the same midi performance rendered with two different pianos. One of them is Salamander and the other (not necessarily in that order) is Ravenscroft. Reverb is ToneBoosters .
(Excuse the rusty playing)
They both sound nice (and trying hard not to be biased toward the Salamander). I think the key off noises on the Ravanscroft are a little overdone and make it obvious which one it is.
(Full disclosure I'm https://sites.google.com/site/soundfonts4u/)
They both need some EQ, no?
The question is does one seem noticeably better to you?
Btw, one was eq'd slightly to be closer to the other.
@espiegel123, neither really works for me compared to what I get with Ravenscroft. But if I had to choose, sample A.
One of them is Ravenscroft using one of its presets. I'll wait to reveal which is which.
1 Sf
2 Ravenscroft
Is my initial reaction, but I don’t have ravenscroft, but I know that SF2.
BTW, the Salamander samples/sfz that I am using is the full 1.18 Gigabyte original version rather than one of the slimmer versions that is available. When I did my initial piano comparisons (which also included the even larger, but less satisfying, to my ear, Ivy in 182 Piano), I thought the full version was more satisfying than the slimmed down versions. But maybe the more recent slimmed ones are better than the ones I tried.
I'd love it if you can find a "Felt Piano" that's free to share. There are nice ones on "PianoBook" (most in Kontakt format). I downloaded one of the Kontakt versions and imported the "waves" right into AudioLayer so making an SF2 using Polyphone should be trivial too. You would just need to contact the creator for his terms unless it's clear from the Piano Book site what is allowed. Hopefully, it's just acknowledging the creator on your site.

For AudioLayer fans there are many SFZ and ESX24 instruments to import.
Thanks for posting this A/B comparison.
I own only Ravenscroft, which I love.
I could not say which is which because you did a good job at making both sound similar but I think I have a very small preference for the B.
