@echoopera That looks superb... I've got to go to bed... damn. Will definitely give it a go with Drambo. Got my Launchpad X a few weeks ago when I got carried away by ATOM's future prospects. Now loving it with LK and haven't touched a keyboard since I got it.

@steve99 I'm thinking to buy a launchpadX but I don't have a desktop mac.... do you think it works right off the box with an ipad and LK? I mean lightning pads and everything?

I know it seems a trivial question but without the possibility to modify inside a mac I need to be sure its going to be a right buy.

    Thanks in advance.

You might need to update the firmware first. You don't have to do any customization though. I really wish Novation would release a Components app. Or better, Apple would make iOS Safari support web MIDI.

  • I’m using the Arturia Minilab mk2 and have 8 templates mapped all with different CC’s.
That gives me 16 knobs to tweak on each track.
The mod touch strip can be the Scene fader.
The pads are the “select track”
Plus, they have two clickable encoders, and those are my Start and Record button.

@supadom Beautiful, did you measure that in advance or was that serendipity? That should stop you tinkering for...ooh, a week??

Pure chance. I’ve used this case for akai midimix/circuit combo in the past but since the arrival of Drambo Circuit isn’t getting much use so I’m very pleased with the fit. Albeit depth (y axis) isn’t enough but I’ll just keep the zoom vertical.

I almost have all the mappings ready!

As a Drambo novice, is there any good documentation or videos on MIDI mapping in Drambo?

In short, I don’t know. Likely because it is super straight forward. You need to press the circle with two dots in upper right corner and all of the mappable controls are revealed. When you tap on the onscreen control you wish to map it turns yellow and it is listening for the incoming midi. Once it has detected a message you can access mapping menu by tapping on the highlighted once again. There it will give you options of how Drambo should respond to a message. It will mostly Also detect the incoming message and apply appropriate settings. If not you can set them up manually i.e. fader will need continuous cc and button/switch toggle and momentary modes.

You can also invert the control so it works the other way around by switching around the amounts line on the graph which also serves for limiting received values.

Let me know if you run into any issues.

You could also use a script (StreamByter or Mozaic) to multiplex the knobs. I have the Behringer XTouch Mini, with 8 knobs (encoders) and 16 buttons. A StreamByter script multiplexes them into 8 banks of 8 knobs, each selected by a lighted button. The other 8 buttons are lighted toggles. The Windows-only (yuk) configuration program let me set the knobs as incremental, which Drambo supports, so parameters don't jump to the knob position, they just change smoothly from current values. Finally, the script adds a little acceleration to the knobs, so coarse adjustments are easier. You can probably script most of these adaptations for the other controllers being discussed.

Got the xtouch mini too , could you share your script? Thanks!

I love using my Arturia BeatStep Pro in Drambo! It gives me three physical step sequencers. Two melodic sequencers and the drum sequencer has 16 tracks, so I can control a lot of sounds. BSP also has 16 drum pads, 16 knobs, transport controls and much more. I can use the pads to trigger clips as well. Worth way more than $259!

Launchpad X is all you need for Drambo:

Here is the original thread which spawned the creation of the custom template for the LPX:

I’m interested in whether you’ll update your mappings now that AU hosting is in place...

  • Dont really map. Keyboard input. Record. Sampler/s control. Miss having a fader per auv3 ( before multi out )

Any good vids on MIDI learning in Drambo?

I imagine the Novation Launch Control XL would be a good controller for Drambo. 24 Knobs, 8 sliders, 16 pads and you can switch between 8 user templates too.

There is no need for a video
    It works as u expect
    Activate midi map mode,
    Touch parameter in the software
    touch the kob,button,fader u want
    That’s it

Your midi assignments are saved with the projects, no need to do anything

This also works with your Bluetooth writing keyboard ;)
    Need buttons? 😁

My enquiry is more to do with how the different increment modes available with MIDI mapping work. Which could do with some documentation or video article. Cheers.

I suggest that you test the increment modes available from the controller, using an app like MIDI Wrench to see what it sends. Examine the Drambo MIDI learn choices to find a match. Then configure the controller to use that mode.
