iOS youtubers shifting to hardware / Pc etc?

Not knocking anyone of course if they are. They’re probably getting more views showing demos / tutorials of euroracks / hardware / plugins etc.

  • For sure I would imagine that is the motivation. IOS is so niche, if someone wants to make a living as a full time youtuber it is a lot more possible doing desktop or hardware, though I would imagine it is also harder to get started in those areas

  • Grifting season never ends on Youtube.

    Free apps are cool.

    Free hardware is better.

    Most of them are lame.

    LOL

  • I’m not certain, but I think Doug of The Sound Test Room has always done hardware videos as well as iOS videos.

  • I don't see what the problem is with mixing these things together.

I use hardware and software (pc and ios) and I imagine with more connectivity between these worlds, many others are as well.

  • I certainly don't see any problem with it.

  • Agreed completely - desktop DAW, iOS, hardware - I don't really view them as being separate. I'm hardly a serious YouTuber but I'll happily do videos on whatever I've got something to say about. Also, my workflow involves all those elements so to just focus on one would give a false impression of how I make music.

  • Definitely no problem with it at all. Just an observation. Also, there’s probably only a handful of people that actually do demos / tutorials on YouTube.

  • iOS releases have been rather ho hum the last year or two, not too many big name draws getting released sadly so I'm not surprised.

  • I don’t know, man. I’m loving the hell out of the releases this year. Excited to see what’s next.

Me too! Things like Fundamental and Gauss have brought something to iOS that there have never been anything like, plus developments in MIDI via LK and the forthcoming Atom 2 have made a huge difference to my workflow. Also - I don't use it a load, but Drambo is a pretty big deal tbf

  • So. I have made the commitment to be 100% iOS.. and when I think about it for me I have everything I need. The product is there I just need to dig deeper and discover all what the 1000 of apps I own can do. I am more at peace now that I dont have to sit at desk trying to Sidechain a Kick with a bass for hours and be obsessed with it.

And if I did start the modular hardware route.... well @iOSTRAKON I would have to come live with you as she would boot my ass out the house 😂😜

  • Haq, Hainbach, and Huang all have killer apps out or in development.
    That’s really awesome.
Hope to see more of this.
