October Chiptune Groovebox

I believe I’ve only seen one mention of this app and it seems pretty cool so I figured I’d give it a dedicated post.

I haven’t really dedicated time to trying to figure it out. It seems very straightforward but I’m trying to figure out where to start really. The demo projects are in super high bpms and I’m not exactly sure how to work with those. 200 is the highest I’ve ever gone and two of the demo projects are at 900 which seems insane.

Anyone else give this one a try and successfully made something with it?

  • When I read the thread title, I thought it was mentioned already, but I was thinking of Moby Chip

@Samu have you seen this one? October Chiptune Maker?

Thanks for the tip on Moby Chip
I have goofed around with October but nothing too deep. It’s pretty cool, has a interesting workflow, and I defer of course to comrade @Samu for his notes

  • Glad to help on the addiction mid-Black Friday
Samu is our chip oracle

My chip/tracker folder has been gathering dust lately. And still, I crave these two now. (and Deflemask, which I only barely use on desktop)

Gotta give Vividtracker, Snibbetracker, SidTracker64 and Sinusoid some more love. Been considering which ones have midi in too to sequence elsewhere

    Sorry. Got carried away

  • Anyone Czech out this app Strom? I’ve seen it on the App Store quite a few times and it always catches my eye. The UI in the screen shots just really does it for me.

Nearly bought it several times but ended up deciding it wasn’t any different from other sampler apps I own. Well at $4.99, I decided why not? Things have already gone a bit over budget now haven’t they? What’s another $5? Lol

Just started messing with it. Figured I’d post here knowing that one of you fellow degens will take the plunge with me. Seems very cool so far and it’s different than the others I thought it was mimicking.

  • I really like the idea of making chiptunes but the October workflow is a bit odd and intimidating to me.

I did also just find this one. Seems interesting. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/deflemask/id1390797126

That's the one I mentioned up there. It's free on PC (donationware) if you wanna try it. Its pretty badass

  • Deflmask is perfect for many chip retro synths! It is a tracker and that's cool but I just use the genesis and turbo grafix sounds over midi. You can edit the tones like a madman too. October looks like a good lil tracker, not much hype. Hails., and lsdj for gameboy needs a port!
