It's cool stuff. Not sure I'll really use it over some of the more full featured drum machines (with midi, multiple patterns, songs, mixer, sound editing...) but the always recording xy pads and the way it manages to get so much out of 8 steps by having different step values per sound is very very cool, very innovative.
I was very hopeful, but the sounds I was getting didn't seem very organic, a wee bit metronomic. And the quality of the samples didn't seem that great to me, kinda clicky. It's the kind of thing I might use once or twice for that very particular effect, but not something I'd add to my work stream.

@syrupcore: Really glad you're liking the features we're most excited about. We're planning on rolling out a more robust feature set to make the app more powerful.
@periurban: An upcoming feature is more granular controls to better shape the sounds. You'll be able to use that to bring a more organic quality to your loops.

I'm a big fan of triqtraq but who knows when they'll join the bus.
I like the app but I'm not sold on it yet.
I'd like to know what I can do with my own samples running on it.

We do believe in "try it before you buy it" but that's what we were going for with making it a free to download app instead of a straight paid app. Pocket Beats will always be free to download and you can always export loops for free. We do plan on selling the Pro Version and drum kits though. Food is nice!
