Mixer Controls in AB2

Hey, I'm wondering if it would be an easy thing to build a basic mixer into AB with volume, pan, mute & solo per loaded app? Mainly I'm wishing for a way to balance the volumes of different apps, when some of them don't even have a volume control built in. Any thoughts?

I like some volume control and meter. Solo and mute too. So I can mute some instruments, instead of close them.

  • Maybe we should ask the developer of DMIMixer to make it compatible with the insert or output slot of AB2 so we can put it ,where we need it ;-)

  • That's a good suggestion

  • My impulse was to dismiss this idea as impractical somehow, but as I thought about it, it does really make sense. Maybe a full mixer is a bit unrealistic (and possibly redundant with output apps like Final Touch that already do this), but some type of output gateway with a DISPLAY of how much output you are generating from that app seems reasonable.

The guitar apps are pretty good about displaying that information, but some of the synthesizers make you hunt for it. I've had it where I'll lay down a reasonable sounding synth part, drop it in a DAW and the output reads out crazy high (which leads to clipping or overdrive).

  • And imagine being able to midi map the controls to a (foot)-controller too. That would be very cool, wouldn't it?

  • An idea whose time is ripe. I mention needing a nice little line mixer every so often, but it makes a lot more sense with the new routing choices.

  • I really think it would make a lot of sense to add at least volume controls per slot. I hope Sebastian or Michael will consider this.

It is coming :-). An 8-port mixer in the output slot with volume, balance, mute, solo controls for the ports, volume for the main mix, full MIDI control, scopes, VU meters, clip indicators and an output port to record the mix. Prepare for a preview soon.

    YES PLEASE!

  • That sounds fantastic! I'm looking forward to that!
