Cant you just urn off monitor? Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you want to do.
When you hit Overdub, it automatically monitors it. I emailed @brambos and he said it's not possible to turn off.
Ahh. I remember that now.
The only way I can think of doing that would be to use two instances. Live record into the second with monitoring off, then route the second to the first with overdub on. You'd have to simultaneously mute the first when you start sending to the second. Then reverse roles for the two instances for further passes.
Sounds complicated and might not work but in theory it could.
I also went down this road of thought and got in touch with Bram about it.
He explained (in another thread around here) how and why the vision and engineering of the app doesn’t allow for what we wanted to do, and it does make perfect sense. The app couldn’t do a lot of the other incredibly cool stuff that it does if it didn’t behave that way.
There are two possible workarounds that I can think of:
(Suggested in another thread so credit to that guy) — Add a simple delay AU to displace the original signal by the same length as the tape loop in Gauss. This is what I’m doing and it works great. Pretty much gets the behaviour that you want.
If the specific functionality of Gauss isn’t needed, give Enso a go. I’ve not purchased it personally but other members here have stated that it should be able to behave in this way.
My suggestion would be to just save your own blank gauss presets set the way you like and named appropriately. Easy peasy!
Wheres Bram?
I bought an omni turntable. If its a 3mm cut fader its no good ( as a youtuber suggested ) but you cant be sure if they just work for a competitor as the creators show a sharper cut. Hoping it can be good enough because it will look great with IOS.
Thought how I might use as a looper. If it dose end up working with an iphone Id spdif into aum on another ipad. I though what about bypass input. Hoping theres no issue with duplicates of practically an iaa. Bypass is linked to gauss record on a nanokey keys. You press a key an it brings the bypass right/on and also triggers record. Off obviously bypasses left and stops guass record. If I have cue points on the iphone. Might be good as an auv3 looper. I can set all gauss to beginning of loop and then map all pauses so they all trigger the same time. Its just without link. If I then go to add the loops back after closing aum. Theres no start stop. Obviously Id have to solo or mute to arrange if I dont re-record with another app. It might just be better to be able to use gauss so you can always tweak the pitch and triggers.
Will let you know what deck is like when it arrives but if theres no link in guass and you can see what im saying and theres no issue with duplicate inputs ( soundwise ) in bypass mode. Then maybe consider start stop link.
Thanks.
Relying on a lot. Works with djplayer pro ( iphone se is a bit small for cues ) Spdif to another ipad. Not much noise. Fader not be more than 1mm. Belt drive be good torque and not be akward. Wont be a 1210 and best fader but it best be good.
Hi,
Someone could explain me how to sync Gauss start playing sync with Host like AUM or Drambo please?
Many thanks
The PAUSE button is exposed to payback rate... I think it a bug.
Please @brambos could you update the exposed midi please?
Like the REC & Erase is not exposed at all 😰
I would like to Midi Map a bunch of button to Drambo and then to my Midi controler.
I can’t play my instruments and having my hand on the screen at the same time 🤔
Many thanks for fixing that and it will playable.
This is the intended behaviour. Pause toggles the playback rate to 0 and back to where it was.
You can already start and end recording using the exposed parameters.
Hi.
Sorry but Rec, erase, monitoring etc are not exposed in Drambo and AUM too.
Maybe I miss something. Someone can confirm this please.
A simple thing I want to do but it’s impossible is to:
When I hit play in brambo I want that GAUSS Start recording and when I hit play again to stop Drambo the recording on Gauss stop recording.
How to do that? 😐🙌
I think they are midi from midi mappings iv made. Aum and a controller.
Wondering how to sync stuff the same. When reopening a project though.
Doesn’t work in DRAMBO they are not exposed.
Really it’s not 😿
Thanks you a lot.
When I tried to click on record button on mapping mode it does nothing but I forget the map menu 😰
Many thanks 🙏
Yeah, the buttons don’t send out events, because you don’t want to record those into your automation data for obvious reasons.
Nice app :
Suggestion :
ps : How to sync AUM Start/Stop with Gauss Start/Stop ?
ps2: Sometimes, the volume goes very low in AUM. (Just this app, the others stay a the same volume)
No start stop.
Theres an input gain on the left for recording volume and a volume on the right. As a booster/balance.
Will probably sample with neon. A neon sample pool. Didnt know what to use neon much with.
Double tap the loop length button. You can set loop length in seconds, beats and cm. The beats option should do what you want, I think.
We weren't going to do bar-synced loop length settings at all, since that was very much against the original concept of off-the-grid looping. The hidden loop length dial is as good as it will get... don't let Hainbach know I put that in or I will have to take it out again
"Would you please add this feature that violates the explicit design philosophy of the app" seems to be a fairly common request around here.
Although, I still haven't figured out a good solution to get the sequencer to be off grid
