USB-c -> female USB-b + 3.5mm. -- is there such a thing?
Hi all, sorry not really an Audiobus question...
I've bought a usb hub for my permanent setup at home, but looking for a minimal Usb solution for on the go.
I have iPad pro 2018 so I'm looking for a dongle which has 1x usb (for AKAI keyb) + a 3.5mm headphone jack.
I can't find one anywhere on Amazon! Anybody have one of these?
Thanks!
Comments
Edit: Sorry, this one has Ligtning and the iPad Pro 2018 has USB-C.
I'll leave it here anyway for all the Lightning iDevices.
Just yesterday I've stumbled over this:

But don't ask me how well it works, I can't tell you.
I can see plenty of USB-c to USB-c + 3.5mm.... but zero of the type I need.

As a workaround.. guys, I have an AKAI MPKminiIII, which uses a USB a to b cable... If I bought a USB c to a cable instead... And plonk that in, would that work do you think? Kind regards.
.
Nope, haven’t seen that
Maybe try this cable or a similar one: https://www.amazon.com/Ancable-Interface-Controller-Keyboard-Recording/dp/B0882YC6Z9
Could try adding a Lightning => USB-C converter on top of that. Risky, but possible...
Original Apple converters always worked for me. So if you really don't find a better option...
I have a 2020 11" IPad Pro with usb-c. To use headphones, I connect them to
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07K25P3N1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
and that goes into
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08KPD5S82/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
That's a port for headphones (thru the usb adapter) & a usb 3 18W port for an external controller or to power.
I've only had the iPad a couple of weeks but so far so good.

I think a USB A to C cable would work, though I’ve not tried it. Seems like simple backwards compatibility.

I prefer streamlined options but I don’t think there is a dedicated cable like that. I use this for the same setup you are trying to do and it works successfully.

Thanks for all the input folks.
--I've opted for one of these:

USB-c out from iPad, dongle has USB-c + 3.5mm ends on it.
And then I'll try a USB-b to USB-c cable from AKAI to the dongle: bought it here for quite cheap:

Hey guys, just wanted to report back on my purchases.
The usbC gadget I bought here:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08GLGY4PZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_A6uZFbDAAEWW2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Is simply not working for me. iPad pro 2018, ios14.2. it might be the iOS build.... Or who knows what else (it works on my pixel 4a phone).
Plugged it in, got 3.5mm audio no problem, but they usb-C port on it just fails to function. No usbC peripherals work so all you're stuck with is a dangly usbC port. Next to useless.
The product photo actually shows an iPad pro... And maybe thisdid work with older iOS builds.. but don't waste your time, this one is a no...
On to the next...

The descriptions for those two adapters say “ 2-in-1 adapter: this allows you to listen to music and charge your phone at the same time.” and “enabling you to listen to music while charging” so neither one is going to work. You need something that provides a fully functional USB-C port and not just a power delivery port, so make sure the description says that.
