Pitch bend as octave shift?
Is there an app that will let me send out a constant pitch bend value? I want to use pitch bend to shift Animoog down one or two octaves while playing the Animoog onscreen keyboard, which doesn't allow access to notes lower than midi note 24.
When playing my external midi controller, I just use the octave shift button on the controller to access those notes, that works fine. But I'd like to be able to reach those notes directly on the Animoog onscreen keyboard. Pitch bend does work for octave shifting (you can set pitch bend range to 12, 24 or even 48 semitones) but there is no "hold pitch bend" button. I actually tried a creative physical solution here, which did work, but a software solution seems better.

I'd rather get in touch with @MoogMusicInc and ask them to extend the keyboard range.
If you send the pitchbend once from a midi scripting app like StreamByter or Mozaic, it will be held until the next pitch bend midi message is send.
Such a script could offer two buttons or pads - one sending the defined pitch-bend value and the other the cenetered position without bend.
I was able to route the Animoog KB from Model -15 to Animoog in AUM.
In the Midi settings for the AUM track containing Animoog, I put a Transpose of -24 semitones, and Animoog played in the new lowered range.
You can probably just use the Animoog KB if you have the Animoog Midi out IAP ( I don’t have it). You just send the Midi out to AUM, then in AUM connect AUM midi back to Animoog IAA.
Don’t try to use Animoog Virtual Midi, use Animoog IAA, otherwise the Transpose you set up in AUM will be out of the Midi path and will have no effect.
You may have a problem playing the Animoog KB while simultaneously driving the synth with transposed Midi. Both inputs may remain active, meaning you will hear the original note and the transposed note together.
If that is the case, and you don’t like that result, you could use the Animoog KB in Model- 15 like I have.
And here are the two simple scripts with GUI support Was a nice and fast evening puzzle break
For Mozaic:
.
For StreamByter:
@rs2000 thanks for the suggestion, I sent an email to Moog Tech Support requesting this.
@CracklePot Thanks for the suggestion, I may try this. I do use the Animoog midi out IAP to layer Animoog with the Animoog for Iphone app (which is quite cool).
@_ki Awesome, thanks for the scripts (and info), will try them out!!!
Grrrrpf - the scripts themself work, but in case of Animoog the new pitchbend is only used for other external midi input. For notes played on Animoogs internal keyboard, the external midi pitchbend is discarded
In my debug and development session, i was controlling Model D in AUM and played it via AUMs keyboard while toggleing the scripts buttons. Even playing Animoog IAA via AUM keyboard (plus the pitchbend script) works. But the final test with Animoog and StreamByter as IAA and Animoog reading midi from StreamByter failed and made me investigate further. External midi pitchbend only applies to external midi input notes.

Sorry, i didn‘t fully test the idea before sugessting and posting the scripts
@_ki thanks for the effort, darn, that seemed like a good idea. I guess it is back to the squash for me then (I use a small squash to hold the onscreen pitch bend, not kidding). Or maybe I will switch to playing Animoog via Model-15 (as suggested) or KB-1.
