My one dissatisfaction with GeoShred - the list of presets is fixed

edited December 2020 in General App Discussion

As the title says, on GeoShred the setlist or list of presets is pre-defined, with my own presets permanent tacked on at the bottom of the list. And now with all the IAP SWAM presets mine are falling way below a list of GeoViolins, GeoCellos etc. It means to get to my own presets I must scroll.

Oh, and the "Our favorites" is also at the top, #3 of which is a freakin GeoViolin (an IAP) preset. This is bad user design, pushing your IAPs by forcing visibility of them onto each user.

Comments

  • Yeah, I agree. The positioning of the IAP presets is pretty bad especially for users (like myself) who have not purchased them.

  • I reported this one to GeoShred in October so they are aware of it... no idea if it is on their enhancement list though...

  • I just recently purchased GeoShred and just got the Swam bundle. I am loving the app but I must agree that this is really my only complaint as well.
I guess it would also be nice to have some sort of user guide that at least gives explanations of some of the settings...for instance it took me quite a while and some digging through faqs to figure out what the "Finger Expression" toggle was. I know about the video tutorials etc but not all of the settings are covered. peace

  • @hadje I think unfortunately the days of a comprehensive user guide / manual for anything is largely a thing of the past. The help system in GS is good though, just put a phrase is like Finger Expression and it does find entries for it. Regards

  • I don’t see any problem with the user guide which is detailed and also contextual : click on « ? » while having the parameters menu displayed and it will target the related section of the user guide.

My main concern regarding GeoShred is that “Relative” tracking doesn’t work properly for parameters whose range is not centered on zero. As soon as you move the finger, the value always starts from the boundary closest to zero, whatever the “initial” value, and produce an audible discontinuity in sound effect.
@moForte , maybe you could improve the relative tracking mode for non zero-centered parameters 🤞Thanks !

thanks for the comments i can't believe i missed the search field in the Help section!

so really now for me i would just like to be able to save either "user" presets or just tag my favorite presets

    peace

  • I feel you, I feel like they added all these bells and whistles before proper fretboard play. I prefer the I fretless even as a fretted midi instrument. Geo shreds iap are sad, as a long time user should get a proper sound set.

  • Ever notice palm mute works and stays on (like it should) in full screen mode but not normal mode. There are just so many lil quirks that bother me I kinda resorted to just thinking it works on iPad Pro and that's all.

  • @hadje if I understand what you want to do, you can achieve both of these. If you make any change to a supplied preset you can then do ‘Save As’ and save it as your own named preset. You can also add your own presets or supplied presets to your own setlist which you can create via the ‘Setlists’ option.
@oceansinspace , Palm Mute Is a transient slider when on the full control surface. If you want it permanent you can replace it with Guitar>Strings> Material which has exactly the same effect but is permanent on both full and mini surfaces. Cheers.

  • @GeoTony many thanks i finally figured it out !
