I use Astrofox, Magic, and other music visualizers as a starting point. Then I transform them with various video FX plugins within Vegas Pro.
@richardyot
This song has a solid beat with a nicely balanced open structure. Feels more lyrical than your previous songs. The layering of the musical elements is especially clear and distinct. Everything works well. I really like this one.
@McM
Love the opening beat and counter-beat. Organ and piano that follow build up from the underlying structure. Cool how it becomes complex rhythmically without becoming cluttered. Everything winds down nicely with the solo piano. Overall, a very satisfying musical experience.
@Janka
Really like the squishy electronic sounds behind the dark and moody pads near the opening. The song progresses into many surprising directions. And it isn’t stuck with just being dystopian, as there are glimmers of hope as we skim across the ruins.
@Kitusai
This one is both edgy and exhilarating. The choice of instruments and musical riffs run the gamut from calm to frenetic. I’m especially impressed with the spatial placement of the sounds. It feels like being onstage during an impromptu concert.
@orchardman
As with previous orchardman entries, this a very professional production. The vocals sit well over the instruments. Catchy melody, too. Another top-notch song. Keep ‘m coming.
@crony
What a wonderfully upbeat music video. The instruments and vocals are blended just right. The visuals (with the background dancers and ever-changing text from the lyrics) help to lift up the music even higher. Makes me want to get out of my chair and dance!
@DavidEnglish Thank you, good cooking!
@janka liked this track! Not quite my style of music but the mix sounded really clear. Nice melodic passages and swelling synth pads. Also drum/rhythm section was really good and fit the song style nicely.
@Kitusai honestly this was a hard listen in spots. Not my style of music I would listen too so take that with a grain of salt I thought the mix was good between the background guitar and the sticks sounds...really well placed together. The guitar lead seems out of place to me...too forward maybe?
@orchardman like this song! Vocals sounds really nice, piano and pad blended well together to make nice background sound. Loved that bridge! Kind of Evanecense sounding. I thought the electric guitar power chords sound odd for the mix. Maybe the tone was off or “nasal” sounding
Hi all,
Sorry I’m late with my comments.
Here we go;
@richardyot lovely gentle song with your usual high production standards.
@crony great production and I loved the video.
@DavidEnglish great stuff. The sounds together with the visualiser video had a mesmerising effect. Do you record everything within the Launchpad app or do you export the samples into something else. I’ve got loads of Launchpad sample packs which I enjoy messing around with but I have never been able to incorporate them into my music.
@McM pretty piece and the production was spot on. Loved the piano sound.
@janka nice cinematic production. I did find some of the lead synth sounds a little grating.
@Kitusai I have missed your quirky brilliance whilst I have been away. That guitar sound was a mixture of a brass section on a bad day mixed with some bagpipes and Neil Young circa his weld era. None of which should have worked but it did brilliantly. You then combined that with a pretty gentle backing track which again shouldn’t have worked but did.
I record everything within the Launchpad app. I load up one of the Soundpacks and spend a minute or two trying out the samples. Then I jump in to the play the grid like an instrument. If I mess up, I can always start over. The end results are hit or miss (mostly miss).
