Using Cykle to generate a bass line.

Inspired in part by @LinearLineman’s contemporary contributions as of late, and enabled with having a day off, and coincidentally being in the doghouse with the old lady, (it was all part of my master plan!) I was banished to be all alone, with my iPad... so I made use of the time and managed to dig up a few old pieces from many months ago.

This one started as a midi loop generated by the Piano Motifs app. With only another synth part in Synthmaster One, and the drum track pre-multi out Drambo, I decided to resurrect this piece from the ashes and give it a fresh makeover.

I added a textural part with Aparillo for starters, then decided on a generative bass line by using some odd steps in Cykle. AudioKit’s Sub 808 Bass has been really serving me well lately so it has a standing invitation. And what better way to round off that “contemporary radio” sound, than a nice sexy tenor saxophone part improvised on the GeoShred surface by yours truly.

    Thanks!

Careful, that saxophone is addictive, and before you know it, you’ll have a sax part for your entire repertoire lol

I was married back in the early 90’s. It lasted for only a few years before we parted ways. I wouldn’t do it again.

I’ve been with the one I’m with now for 15 years and have no plans, nor even mention the “M word”. I still stay in trouble though, so it’s just like having that proverbial ball and chain. Heh..

  • @oat_phipps .... dont worry. We can yell at you or nag you and send you to your room! 😂

  • Haha. I could never live constantly with the same person for a lifetime, and never wanted kids, so I’m cool. But sometimes I do feel like I’m missing out on fun things like a night in the doghouse where I have do “make do” by playing music all by myself.

You did remember to tune the resonator to A Major though, right?
