Geoshred clean guitar sound

Hello.

I was hoping someone could help. I’m trying to make a realistic clean guitar sound in Geoshred but everything I come up with sounds too fake. Has anyone got any ideas of the best way of doing it? That is if it is actually possible of course!

Comments

  • Turn off the chorus. They always drown the guitar in chorus. I’m not quite sure where to begin with finding a realistic acoustic sound.

  • @FesteringMike , funnily enough I had exactly the same issue a couple of hours ago. My suggestion is open something like the supplied Classical Acoustic or Shred Lead depending on whether you want acoustic or electric. Select ‘Model & FX’ from the menu. Select each FX in turn and switch them off. Save as a preset of your choice. I did this to use with the new IK app and it it works fine. Hope that helps.

Thanks for your reply. I have actually tried that before but still find that the sound I’m left with doesn’t sound anywhere near convincing. I’d have thought it would be possible though as there are many far inferior apps with a better clean sound than Geoshred atm.

  • Not to sound like a geo hater, as I like it... But you will have to fiddle ALOT for electric but acoustic is a lil easier. Cheers. The 'material' and "I forgot' parameter in play menu is the main trip.

    Yeah, I suspected as much.

Cheers for your input though. I’ll have another fiddle.

  • @oceansinspace ., Don't particularly disagree with you... Funnily enough I find the acoustic sounds less convincing than the electric. Room for improvement all round perhaps. Good look @FesteringMike .

  • Or even luck!

  • Don’t search for real guitar sounds, you won’t find it.
Use it for what it is,and you’ll have great fun😉.

    That's what I did too

  • I love how we can babble about micro complaints but not vibe all bad! Way to be a goods forum. Also I like that you like the electric more: shows truth and being honest.

ps.: I added a play beat (dope app) to my vids and was trying to explain to a friend how 50 bpm can be semi fast thing, but would you just say 100 bpm to simplify? back to topic. I won't post vid as I not hijack thread.

  • Best combo is GeoShred driving Sample Tank (American acoustic pack)

This is exactly what I have done in Geoshred and planning to use Mixbox effects.. Can you please shaer some sample how it came out so that I can be sure before I buy mixbox?

Will be able to do slide and glide properly? I have heard Sample Tank does not allow to change pitch bend range to 12.. Then slide/glide not possible) - right?

  • @sujoybose77 , here is a brief video showing the six basic clean GeoShred body types (these should be self explanatory from the preset name top right) with a quick blast of each one through a default MixBox preset. Rubbish playing but hopefully will give you an idea of the sounds!

  • You could layer geoshred with sampletank and/or some good soundfont
Or mix all of them, geoshred / sampletank / noise (roli) / bs-16i with a good soundfont / guitarism / iFretless Guitar

Maybe it's too much work, but you could use AUM to mix as you wish, save as a preset, and then save another version routing to bias / tonestack / nembrini / etc for amp modeling and fx

Your double coil bridge preset sounds awesome after applying Mixbox.. Mind sharing that Geoshred preset with me? My email [email protected]
Really appreciate putting the demo for us..

  • @sujoybose77 , Re the preset I think you will learn more if you create it yourself i.e. starting with e.g. the supplied Shred Lead preset, Select 'Model & FX' and then click 'Edit'. Delete all of the effects (the red cross). Click on the AmpCab and change the Cabinet Resonances to 'Flat Response'. Close the effects page. Select 'Save As...' and save as a preset name of you choosing.
Also, while all on this forum are paragons of virtue and honest as the day is long etc etc, personally I wouldn't just publish my email address. I think the forum has a way of sending private messages without exposing your email so would suggest that. Hope that helps!

  • Slightly off topic, anyone else having problems with latest geoshred update? Seems to have broken the standalone (but not the AU ) on iOS 12.8 2018 ipad pro. Ive tried wisdom tech support but their email is down.

  • @Tickletiger , ok here on iPad Pro 11 iPadOS 14.2... what is it that doesn’t work.

The standalone app now crashes rather opens, as an AU in AUM it’s fine

  • Lol.. For me it's working fine as standalone app but occassionally crashing in AUM as AU...

I have done all of these and more while creating my own presets.. Just wanted to compare mine with yours.. But its fine... I understand your point..

  • GeoShred uses the MoForte guitar models ( or maybe visa versa ) which used to be a Guitar app by itself... 4-5 years ago? It wasn’t a great guitar sound back then and hasn’t changed much since then. Not to take away from GeoShred which is a great instrument as long as you saturate the sound with distortion and delays!

I’ve played extensively with the model controls and can’t get even close to a real guitar that a half decent sample set could generate.

I note that the new sound models come from a third party... who don’t have a guitar model which Is a shame.

I’d love to hear an improved straight guitar model if that’s even possible ... no question that a model can do things a sample can’t touch. But maybe the MoForte devs can’t pull it off.. or it can’t be done?
