Virsyn AudioEffx presets a la IK MixBox

Buena gente, does Virsyn AudioEffx channelstrip-like plugin have presets like MixBox? I’ve read here that MixBox has a ton of presets (more if you register) for various scenarios, guitars, keys and so on. I like the idea of having presets from the Dev as a starting point to tweak but I don’t like the idea of spending $40 on myself right before Christmas. Doesn’t look like IK stuff goes on sale much, especially not this one since it just launched. AudioEffx although clearly not as deep is similar in concept and only $10. Was hoping it had presets like Mixbox since the channel strip style fx are new to me and would like some dev recommendations on order of fx, number of fx, general settings and such for different needs/goals. Checked their website and it doesn’t mention presets.

Comments

  • AudioEffx comes with 12 presets so this is nothing like the scope or depth of Mixbox.
On the plus side, it does come with a randomization button across all effects.
You missed this year's BF sales for it, which would have brought its price down to a more commensurate $3.99.

  • Thanks @Tim6502, I think I understand correctly that the random button effects all the fx in the strip and not that each individual fx has a random function? $4 is def better than $10, but I’m really trying not to spend $40. MixBox is so tempting conceptually, visually, practically and a bunch of ly’s except affordably (for me, at least, at the moment).

Yes, this goes across all effects. The effects (or some subset of them) can be found in many of Virsyn's apps (synths and effects) as well, so this might be a way to check them out if you happen to have any apps of his.

  • I would recommend ChannelStrip by Audio damage.
It has no presets but it is really easy to use.

    It's currently £4.99

It has a gate, eq and a compressor.

It's also light on the cpu.

The eq is based on a rare German equaliser.

I left a little comment about it on the ChannelStrip thread.

I got it for £1 but even at £4.99 it's worth it.

AudioFX is a lovely collection of a few DSP effects but it is nothing like MixBox (nor is it intended to be). MixBox is an extensive collection of effects including many emulations of particular hardware effects.

  • $40 is a hefty price in the iOS world but you get what you pay for. And it's on sale already.

  • Thanks gents. Me to me: now hear me out, you saved at least $40 on NSK2, MDES, 6144, Rhythm Bud, Arpbud 2, iVSC3, Shaper, Bandelay, SB Jazz Funk, SB Jazz 4... Aaaaaand MixBox is $20 off so technically if you buy it, it’s like you’re making minimum $20. Me back to me: that makes perfect sense, you should have gone into finance.

  • Watched @Gavinski ’s YouTube overview and saw what all the fuss is about. Excellent overview if you haven’t seen it already. But no matter how cool Mixbox is, I’ll have to wait, hopefully it stays at the intro price for a while.
