Boppad/Drambo versus WaveDrum Global
I have the opportunity to buy a WaveDrum relatively cheaply. I’m aware of its limitations and that it’s rather old tech, but I do like the idea that I can just plug it in like synth or guitar and go.
But, I do have a Boppad that I haven’t really used yet, and the same for Drambo. This latter setup no doubt would have far more flexibility that the WD, but I’m a tad intimidated at the thought of wading into that. Would I be wasting my money on the WaveDrum?

Wavedrum if you want plug and play,
Drambo if you change your mind and get ready to spend some time with it
You could also probably get that money back at some point in the future to fund something else.
But definitely, start your Drambo investigation. It's very powerful and can save you a lot of money paying on more "one trick pony" apps. Drambo is a little herd of ponies. It now has an IAP and will probably get more to fund the effort to add more ponies.
How does Drambo relate to the Wavedrum?
What would you be using to trigger Drambo?
ps> I had a Wavedrum. Used it for a little while. Ended up letting it go, but can't really say "why" other than after wanting one for years I was somehow underwhelmed by it. But def get one if you feel so inclined bec. there is still a market for them and you can always sell it off again if it is not to your liking. Next on my one-of-these-days lists is either a Roland Handsonic or a Keith McMillen BopPad...
It really depends what you want sound wise. I expect WaveDrum Global will have all those perfectly multi sampled world instruments in all sorts of combinations. Does it have any kind of user tweakable synthesis under the hood? I used to have wavedrum 2 and I let it go because what I wanted was Impaktor style flexibility and realised that WD had none of that. It was good for acoustic emulations but I’m not into it and have several djembes and other bits and bobs around the house to scratch that itch.
You can achieve loads Drambo/BopPad especially now that Drambo can host AUs so apps like Spectrum Resonator are all there to be used alongside sampler modules and Drambo’s own resonator. The only thing you don’t get with boppad is the ability to wack it with your hand as you would any kind of real drum or wavedrum for that matter. This is what I missed in boppad but what you get is for zones and pressure which wavedrum won’t give you (as far as I know).
So it is apples and oranges really. Also in order to tame Drambo you’ll need to spend a bit of time to get what you want out of it and often knowing exactly what you want might be the biggest problem while wavedrum will just offer whatever it has to offer, instantly.
If the price is right get wavedrum and sell it on if it doesn’t cut the mustard.
