Escaping Lunar Orbit / 1st Mixbox
Two tracks Syntronik, SynthScaper LE, Noise Guitar and SynthMaster Player. Using Mixbox was fun and educational. Something about lining up those effects in a row. So much more visual than inserting an effect at a time in CB3.
Also, I experimented for the first time with cabs, tape delay, cruncher, etc. My first rack experience.
This is definitely not for the acousticocentric.
Comments
There's an Emerson, Lake and Palmer vibe! Like it!
Cool!
Thanks for lis @PartOfPayn. ELP is good company! And thank you for listening @Pxlhg.
Nicely done! Glad you like the ergonomics of MixBox and thanks for using Syntronik. Lots of great filters available using both Syntro and MixBox
Edit - Plus I love the term "acousticocentric"
Sounds out of this world Mike! Nice use of some new toys.
Mike, you always seem to make the best of your time and tools. So awesome Really getting some ELP / Progressive / Symphonic Rock vibes here
What is the noise guitar you mention? Is it a real guitar, Synthmaster or GeoShred running through Mixbox?
Roli has an AUv3 app called "Noise" which presents as instrument and drum playback apps.
There are many IAP sound banks for Noise so narrowing down "guitar" might need more clarification. Noise is really nice and responds well to MPE since it's a bit of a cross-sales
market play for the Seaboard controllers with optional SWAM instruments.
Oh. That noise!
I always seem to mess up when someone mentions it
Just fired it up and tried the guitar... it will really fit my current project
Thanks for reminding me, mate
edit: I don't know why I thought it was abandoned... But event the soundpack store is still active
For the record, this guitar is in the Noise "Fundamentals" Sound Pack and it's called "Guitar Overdrive Lead". Noise is FREE and Fundamentals (as I recall) is included to get you addicted.
So, this guitar sound is free... what are you waiting for... free.
Thanks for listening @Intrepolicious
@senhorlampada , it is the only electric guitar on Noise, I think. Someone said it was the best on iOS. Not sure what GeoShred would say about that, but it’s pretty good.
Thanks for listening @ikmultimedia. I’m honored!
I know... That's what I mentioned up there
I can never say no to FREE. I even got the Pharell pack
I think it sounds nice indeed. Was layering one of sampletank's guitar with geoshred. But noise's guitar will fit in nicely too
Whelp, enjoyed that for sure. Thanks.
@LinearLineman thanks for taking me into a place in outer space where optimism and hope for the future is alive and well.
@Morgman73, thank you! And thank you @arktek. From my inner space to your inner ear.
@LinearLineman I am still on the fence of this. Its just a joy to work with because they look super nice. Skeuomorphic design at its best. Let’s assume one has almost all of the available plugins for iOS (you know, FAC, Eventide, Kai Aras, Klevgr etc.)... would you still recommend the MixBox? Does it bring something new / better / more convenient to the party?
Anyone knows the non sale price?
Great track! at 2:33 I hear some 'interstellar'.....Is that the moment Escaping Lunar Orbit?
@david_2017, at the sale price of $40 ($80 after intro), I have to say yes...for me, emphatically. I have a lot of the FX you mention. There is something very holistic using a rack compared to inserting individual effects. I know there have been racks out there, but this one somehow grabbed me. I loved the way it looked. And, bring a preset guy, 770 presets seemed worth having at hand.
I am finishing my next track and it is a combination of MixBox presets, Kleverb and plain old nothing.
Here’s the rub... it is a much smoother workflow to have the FX at hand, in one place, as opposed to scrolling for discrete FX and plugging them in one at a time. The MixBox menu also visually cues me as to what categories I might consider, as opposed to the undifferentiated array in the Cubasis3 drop down menu. Plus it's fun to look at the different combos of faceplates! So, for me, it is a great incentive to fool with FX a lot more. I think 😳 I am getting a richer result.
@Pierre118, 2:33 sounds right... tho totally unplanned. Thanks for keeping up with me!
@LinearLineman thank you. I appreciate your reply and the time you spent in writing. I am loosing my balance on the fence now (more and more ))
@david_2017, I’m sure you’ll make the right decision (money emoji with wings on it).
Very interesting indeed. That noisy guitar...
