Groove Rider Problem

I’ve read through the manual twice and searched this forum and the rest of the internet but I can’t find anything about this issue: In Groove Rider, whenever I start a new pattern, I usually start with recording a kick and snare in Trigger mode. However, no matter how I play the pads, the parts get placed on one of the 16 beats (in a single bar). I find this super annoying because I then have to enter Edit mode and move notes around in time. I don’t have any sort of quantization option on—why does it do this? Is there a way to make it record parts exactly like I play them? If anyone could give me some advice I’d be very grateful as I do really like Groove Rider but this issue is making me not want to use it much.

You did say you did not have quantization on?

  • I am a complete idiot. Thank you RajahP for pointing this out.

While we’re on the subject of Groove Rider, is there any way to to start each new pattern without the pre-recorded kick drum hits?

  • Never tried this. But probabl remove the kick drum and save over init?

One way is: When you’re in a new pattern, tap “empty current pattern” in the Utils menu, which keeps all the sounds but erases the recording.

  • Another is selecting that drum kick part, shift-copy and select “init part”
